Friday Photo Time. Our guests have lots of reasons for visiting us - it is truly fascinating to understand what has brought them to stay with us.

Here are just a few of the reasons....in no particular order:

1. They are on a road trip of a lifetime.
2. Just want to see our epic vistas.
3. Want a quiet break in nature away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
4. To see the amazing and often unique wildlife here in The Highlands.
5. Perhaps, they are conquering the Northern Munros.
6. They're getting married - or are on honeymoon.
7. They want to walk on the beautiful and empty beaches.
8. History of the region calls them.
9. Want to re-live great childhood adventures.
10. Climb a sea stack.
11. Need to reconnect with family - either those who live here or bring their family together here for some of the above!

We love to meet and greet our guests and help to make their stay a life affirming experience.

Friday Photo Time. The Kyle of Sutherland is where we are.

This first picture is where our guests first see the lodges and the view. We see jaw drops, and hear great words of wonderment. We have even seen guests cry they are so happy.

Did you know that we are just a stones throw from the shortest coast to coast walk in the UK which goes from Ardgay to Ullapool? This puts us in the perfect place to go wherever the weather is best - east or west. Or, even south or north... Most people will go over the Struie (B9176) - make sure you stop at the viewpoints - with a pair of binoculars, you could actually see us from the more northern view point.

Whichever way you go, enjoy the sunrise or sunset. The river is often like a mirror and can look like a river of gold. In the autumn or winter, you might see it flood which is fascinating to watch as it spreads so wide and fast.

On an evening, sit out on one of the benches and take in the amazing natural ambience after a good day of adventure.

Friday Photo Time. Birds at Ceol Mor - we have loads of birds all year round but at this time of year the variation increases as birds come into the area to breed. The song birds are glorious - just sit outside the lodge and listen to the sound of nature and nothing else. While some of these are all year round, a couple are summer visitors only. There are different birds all around our property with some preferring the lodge area and some nearer the house - they're in the trees and the gorse. Use the Merlin app to check what you're listening to - these were all photographed in an hour window with 17 different birds being heard in that time.

Friday Photo Time. Isle Martin. We recently discovered an island we didn't know existed. It's Isle Martin and is in the sea loch of Loch Broom. From here you can see the entrance to Ullapool and out to the Summer Isles. There's a number of birds around - both sea and land birds. There's also a little museum and great views from the top of the island all around. From Friday to Sunday there is a little ferry (max 8 people) that goes across - an easy stop by the beautiful Ardmair bay.

We often get involved in local community events. This one is very close to our (well, Alan’s to be clear) hearts. There’s going to be 2 slot car tracks running on Saturday 16th May. One for multi car digital racing and another single track rally timed circuit. These will be big circuits! If you’re in the area, please pop over and support us. There will be some prizes…

Friday Photo Time. Here’s the last of our April show. Wild flowers are coming out and the transient squirrel we see each year is starting to come back in. There’s more wild birds about as well as lambs on the road so be careful. Even more fabulous adventures are waiting to be had.

Friday Photo Time. The penultimate selection for April and also before we share some more up to date photos. April showers produce epic rainbows. Yvonne just loves daffodils as spring life really takes hold. Go out for more amazing adventures and perhaps even a cave tour. April is the last month for us to see one of the elusive badgers that live nearby.

Friday Photo Time. Into February now…going to showcase some of our favourites from February. Sunrises can be off the scale. It’s likely still very cold so marvel at the resilience of the wildlife. February is great for adventures with the weather often adding great effects. The river in front of us floods at this time of year - making for stunning vistas from the lodges and swans can come up close.
