It has been a very busy month. Thankfully, we are booked up to the end of September and there are a couple of people ready to take a cancellation. We are truly grateful to our regular and new guests for their support and the way they treat the barn as their own home. There are plenty of horror stories out there so again thank you.
Sorry but a rant....... if you are not aware, the previous Welsh Government introduced a minimum 182 nights/year target or face, in Ceredigion, a 150% premium council rate charge. We will reach the target soon and avoid a £4000 bill. Our politicians have failed to justify the target figures when they are significantly lower in the rest of the UK. Many of us only have planning permission as a holiday let so it cannot be a second home and in our case cannot be sold. The tourist industry is a core area by providing employment and supporting local business. The low noise coming out of Plaid, so far, is not very encouraging. Advanced warning for next year is the additional "tourist tax" charge which seems to be at least £1.30/person /night for everyone for any overnight stay in Wales. All we ask is you challenge our politicians and policy makers to influence and justify any decisions.
On a lighter note, Alfie and Willow have continued to meet and greet guests. Hello by licking is their preferred option.
We are taking bookings for all of October and reserving dates for November. If you know of someone struggling and needs a break let us know and we will try to help.
In the scramble to secure bookings I forgot to ask guests to note their favourite places to visit which I can put into the information pack. I will use the "comment book" but please let me know if you have have strong recommendations.
