Congratulations to Sister Rachael Hawkes of Omagh WLOL 44 on her fantastic achievement in securing a Bronze Medal for Northern Ireland in the Womenโ€™s 70kg Judo category at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. ๐Ÿฅ‰

Rachaelโ€™s success is a tremendous achievement and a wonderful recognition of her dedication, hard work and sporting talent.

It was also fantastic to see Rachael recognised earlier this year as the winner of the Sporting Achievement Award at the 2026 Orange Community Awards.

Many congratulations, Rachael โ€” a fantastic achievement and one to be very proud of! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Now the dust has settled on another glorious 12th and probably our most glorious one to date as a lodge - we would just like to thank everyone in Castlederg rural Ulster especially Bridgetown LOL379 & the Castlederg Young Loyalistโ€™s and Trevor Donnell & the Derg Arms for their fellowship, friendship, generosity and kindness along with the hospitality of 379 WM John Galbraith and his wife and friends throughout the day slaving over a BBQ and keeping us hydrated โ€ฆ..and enduring us all!โ€ฆ.the welcome and hospitality we got will stick forever in our minds and is testimony to why we should all think about venturing away from the traditional pilgrimage to Belfast and saviour a more local rural 12th.GOLI Events

110 Years ago at dawn on 1st July 1916 thousands of brave men advanced over the top and into unimaginable danger facing conditions and hardships few could ever comprehend- an estimated 200,000 Orangemen served in the First World War -hundreds slain on this somber day

"I am not an Ulsterman, but yesterday, the 1st July, as I followed their amazing attack I felt I would rather be an Ulsterman than anything else in the world."

Shortly before the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day, we conducted research and estimated that approximately 16,000 Men of Sussex fell in the First World War. That is 5.3% of the countyโ€™s male population at the time.

The vastest number of casualties from Sussex on a single day was 110 years ago today, on Friday 30th June 1916, a date which would later be notoriously known as โ€œThe Day Sussex Diedโ€.

On June 30th, 1916, 366 men - mainly from Sussex - of the 11th, 12th and 13th Southdowns Battalions of the Royal Sussex Regiment, โ€˜Lowtherโ€™s Lambsโ€™, were killed and over 1000 wounded or taken prisoner in the Battle of the Boar's Head. This black day was later known as "The Day Sussex Died", due to the high amount of soldiers from Sussex who sacrificed their lives for King, Country and County.
