Absolutely fantastic weekend for the preppers meet. Met some really lovely people.

Thankyou to everyone who works hard to organise and run the meet and thank you to everyone for respecting the site and keeping it so tidy.

Was great to see everyone having such a fantastic time and showing the kids how to clip the birds wings and taking the valais for a small walk.

If anyone wants to attend next year please keep an eye on facebook who doesn't follow the preppers on YouTube i will try and post updates and links as and when we get them.

Autumn events at Tarras Valley!🍂

We are hosting a series of woodland events across Autumn this year with a range of activities led by local experts. From Woodland Yoga to learning about Skiddaw Forest, we hope there is something for everyone!🍄

We recently opened a small honesty shop which we thought would be easier for people to buy logs and eggs at a time convenient to them. Unfortunately this weekend we have had quite a few nets of logs and 4 boxes of eggs with no payment left.

We are extremely saddened we are unable to trust people to leave money for their purchases.

We will now only have information leaflets and maps of the surrounding area in the shed.

All logs do need to be bought on site, we will be coming round on an evening on the tuk tuk selling logs and kindling, if you need any before this please see one of us in the first static caravan

Alot of people have been enquiring about booking for this weekend (bank holiday) the site is closed as we are hosting a preppers meet from Friday to Monday.

We had one last year and it was a great weekend with fantastic people.

I have shared the YouTube video below which gives information in case anyone is interested on booking on for the weekend.

Booking do have to be done direct through the preppers link, if you want to arrive earlier or stay longer the extra days are booked threw us, if you would like electric for your stay this also has to be booked with us.

The preppers have booked the who campsite and field where the sheep normally are so will be a good weekend.

So if you notice us about site tomorrow this is due to unfortunately we wont be away at blacknose beauties for the whole day (just some of it as spectators) as we are now not allowed to move our sheep.

🔴 BLUETONGUE – TEMPORARY CONTROL ZONE IN SCOTLAND

Important notice for all local farmers and clients

The Scottish Government has today, 20 August 2026, declared a Temporary Control Zone (TCZ) for Bluetongue following suspicion of Bluetongue virus on premises in Scotland.

If your premises are within the TCZ, the following restrictions apply:

🐑 MOVEMENT RESTRICTIONS
“In accordance with article 13(6) of the 2012 Order, a person must not move any animal, embryo, o**m or semen to or from premises in the Temporary Control Zone except as authorised by a licence granted by the Scottish Ministers”

📋 LIVESTOCK INVENTORY
Keepers and occupiers within the zone must maintain an up-to-date inventory of animals on the premises, recording:
• Number of animals alive
• Number dead
• Number alive that are infected or likely to be infected with Bluetongue
• Births and deaths, including dates

The restrictions apply to ruminants and camelids covered by the legislation. Premises partly inside the TCZ and partly outside it are treated as being wholly within the zone.

📍 IMPORTANT: The exact extent of the Temporary Control Zone is defined by the APHA Interactive Bluetongue Virus Map.

We will continue to keep our farming clients updated as further information becomes available.

For anyone visiting us Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd August, please be advised we will not be about most of the day.

We are attending Blacknose Beauties with our little valais lamb Nagini, everyone will receive emails before there arrival with pitch numbers and information.

There will be our contact numbers on the main gates and on the doors to the honesty shop if you need anything.

I have attached information below in case anyone would like to attend and see hundreds of the cuddliest sheep all in one place or would like to have a nosey at the live streams.

Someone will be popping by thorougthe day as and when we can, please be mindful of others campers and any issues please call us.

BBQ AND FIREPIT UPDATE.

No disposable bbqs are allowed on site at all.

Normal bbqs and firepits are still allowed but must be raised off the ground.

We are waiting for some firemats to arrive which you will be able to hire to put under your bbq or firepit.

We will also be providing red water buckets on each pitch filled with water.

All firewood and kindling must be purchased from our site so we can make sure the wood is hardwood and the correct wood to burn, not softwood which splinters and sparks very easily or random objects people use to start fires.

Please follow the rules given any breaches of these rules or any rules on site you will be asked to leave, please dont spoil the site for yourselves or anyone else.
