Our safari lodge Kemper has just had a very rare cancellation for this weekend — in fact, it's the only gap it has had throughout the entire summer holidays.

Lyra and I headed to the Eden Project with some friends last week, and we had such a lovely day!
As well as all the usual excitement of exploring the ‘jungle’, playing in the play areas and having fun on the marble run, Lyra absolutely loved the dinosaur exhibition they have on for the summer holidays.
It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re staying with us at Ekopod this summer! 😊 And it’s only around a 45-minute drive from us, making it an easy day out.

Sea views from Roughtor, one of the highest points in Cornwall. Not far from Ekopod after doing this short but steep walk you are rewarded with stunning views. So quiet as well couldn’t believe how few people were there for a weekend in the school holidays.

Sunset at Boscastle last night. The trees on the hill top in slide two are actually green- the sunset just made them look like Autumn had arrived early. Boscastle is twenty minutes from Ekopod. Lovely little fishing village with beautiful walks and some great places to eat and drink. Bring your swimming costume if you fancy a dip int he harbour!

With all the talk about the eclipse, don’t forget the Perseid meteor shower, which peaks on Wednesday night! In dark-sky areas like ours, you could see up to 100 ‘shooting stars’ an hour, but even in city centres you should spot a few if the skies are clear.

Coming for the eclipse - we recommend heading to Bude or surrounding beaches to watch it over the sea. Don't forget your eclipse glasses- they are in short supply in the local area!
