Jamaica Inn Ghost Hunting Investigation Page

Jamaica Inn Ghost Hunting Investigation Page We are the Jamaica Inn paranormal team, who exclusively run public and private paranormal nights at the world-famous Jamaica Inn, Cornwall.

Jamaica Inn, Cornwall's legendary coaching house, immortalised in Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name, has stood high on Bodmin Moor for over four centuries. We're still referred to by historians as Cornwall's most famous smuggling inn. These days we do welcome the more salubrious guest ... and the odd ghost! Jamaica Inn was built around 1750/60 as a dwelling house for John Broad. By 1778,

extensions were added and it became the Jamaica inn where travellers made the journey between Launceston and Bodmin. Remote and isolated, it quickly became the ideal place to stop for smugglers transporting illegal goods into Devon and onwards. Jamaica Inn now is home to one of the finest and most extensive collections of smuggling artefacts in the UK at our Smugglers museum. In 1930, Jamaica Inn was visited by author Daphne du Maurier, who was inspired to write her most famous novel by the atmosphere and history of the inn. Fans of the novel now travel from all over the world to visit the Inn and our fantastic Daphne du Maurier museum. With all of this history, it comes as no surprise that Jamaica Inn is considered one of the most haunted buildings in Cornwall. In fact, when the TV show Most Haunted featured Jamaica Inn, they said that it was one of the spookiest programmes that they have ever recorded. Guests have reported seeing and hearing things that cannot be explained, and now many stay with us with the hope of seeing something for themselves! Spend the night in one of our famous haunted hotel rooms, enjoy our superb food for lunch or simply stop for real ale with your dog by our open fire!

The Jamaica Inn Paranormal Team are delighted to be returning to the legendary Jamaica Inn this Autumn for another season of unforgettable paranormal investigations.

As the evenings draw in and darkness settles across Bodmin Moor, an eerie mist often creeps silently around the ancient coaching inn, transforming this historic building into the perfect setting for a night of mystery, intrigue and investigation.

Your evening begins with a delicious two-course meal, giving you the opportunity to meet fellow investigators, share experiences and prepare for the night ahead. Then, as the Inn grows quieter and the shadows deepen, the investigation begins.

Over the years, we have experienced some truly remarkable activity within these old walls. From playful pranks seemingly aimed at unsuspecting guests to fascinating interactions that leave even the most seasoned investigators amazed, every event at Jamaica Inn is unique. The spirits here always seem to have a surprise or two waiting for us.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced paranormal enthusiast, our events offer a welcoming, respectful and exciting opportunity to explore one of Britain's most famous haunted locations alongside our experienced team.

Our Autumn events are always extremely popular and dates fill quickly, particularly throughout October. This year's Halloween Special promises something a little different, with a unique twist that we cannot wait to reveal.

Then, as the year draws to a close, we host one of our most anticipated events — our exclusive Returners' Night in December. Designed for previous guests and experienced investigators, this special evening allows participants to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Inn, conduct their own experiments and explore areas and techniques in greater detail.

Why not make a full night of it and book one of our famously haunted bedrooms? Many guests have reported strange experiences long after the investigation has ended, ranging from unexplained footsteps and maybe a smile from a passing spirit......

Exciting news!

Preorders are now live.

Jamaica Inn: The History, Hauntings and Folklore is the culmination of over a decade of meticulous research by Karin Beasant and others, brought to life in collaboration with Lisa Holman and enriched by the experiences of the Jamaica Inn Paranormal team.

This compelling volume moves beyond myth to uncover the true story at the heart of the inn, exploring the legacy of Captain John Broad, whose vision helped shape Jamaica Inn into a lasting enterprise for his two sons. Through historical records, personal insights, and careful investigation, the book paints a vivid picture of life on the moor and the enduring mark left by those who built its foundations.

Yet history is only part of the story…

From unexplained footsteps to shadowy figures and chilling encounters, the inn remains a focal point for paranormal intrigue. Combining documented history with eyewitness accounts and investigative findings, this book bridges the gap between fact, folklore, and the unexplained.

Who still walks its corridors? What stories refuse to fade? And why does Jamaica Inn continue to draw those seeking answers?
Perfect for lovers of history, heritage, and the paranormal, this is more than a book; it’s an invitation to step inside the legend.

You can preorder it by visiting Lisa's website: www.lisaholman.co.uk

Not only is Lisa a member of the Paranormal Team, but she is also an accomplished, multi-genre author.
