🟡 A yellow warning for thunderstorms and heavy showers has been issued by the Met Office for today, Tuesday 4 August, and into tomorrow. Thunderstorms and heavy rain may cause some disruption.
A flood alert has also been issued by SEPA as heavy and thundery showers in some places could cause significant flooding impacts on this afternoon and evening.
Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property. The Met Office has issued advice for staying safe in a thunderstorm at https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/warnings-and-advice/seasonal-advice
🟡 There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
🟡 Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
🟡 Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
🟡 There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads.
It is not safe to drive, walk or swim through floodwater. Avoid it where possible and if you are affected by fast flowing or deep-water call 999 and wait for help.
