The morning after the day before...thank you to everyone for creating the most amazing day with the first Doughnut Dash at a scorchio Stokes Bay.

Thanks to the 400 runners, joggers & walkers who took part to create a carnival atmosphere on the seafront, with the Gosport Solent Brass band serenading on the start line.

Delighted to have Caroline Dinenage MP and Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Kirsten Bradley start the race.

We were blessed with some amazing volunteers from Gosport Rotary, the Absolute 545 RunClub, Gosport and Fareham Wombles 🚯Hampshire Police Cadets & the 9th Alverstoke Brownies.

We are indebted to Langdale Nursing Home, One Stop, Tesco and, of course, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for their support.

And, as always, thank you to Richard & Vicky at Easy Drive Hire for providing all-important logistical support.

Along the way, we have raised a tidy sum for the Naomi House & Jacksplace, plus the The Diving Museum Gosport who kindly hosted us.

Thanks to Paul Jacobs for the terrific photos and the Doughnut Dash is featured in today's The News, Portsmouth: https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/people/the-doughnut-dash-in-pictures-hundreds-take-on-the-challenge-of-a-fun-run-while-eating-doughnuts-8639912 #

Twenty four hours to go to the Doughnut Dash at Stokes Bay.

Unfortunately, there are no entries on the day because we hit our limit of 400 entrants earlier this week. BTW: we're picking up 800 doughnuts from Krispy Kreme today.

Back in the day, a Met Office amber weather warning simply meant: “Ooh lovely… stick the shorts on, Doris, we’re having a barbecue.” Now it means: “Remain indoors. Hydrate constantly. Protect the vulnerable. Don’t look directly at the sun.”

And to be fair… tomorrow IS going to be properly hot. The current Solent forecast for 9am Monday morning is around 22°C.

So to those taking part, please:
• Drink plenty of water before you arrive.
• Bring water with you - there will also be water available at the feeding station.
• Wear sun cream.
• Wear light clothing.
• Hats are sensible. Banana costumes less so.
• Please keep children hydrated throughout the event - and keep an eye on them at all times.
• Think carefully before bringing dogs in the heat.
• If you feel unwell, stop. There will be a trained medic near the feeding station by GAFIRS.

Nobody gets extra points for attempting to recreate Chariots of Fire while overheating beside the Solent. See you tomorrow!😃

Great news. The Doughnut Dash is a sell out. Thank you to everyone for their support. Even the Bank Holiday weather is looking promising.

By the way, we are looking for someone who fancies taking some pictures and video of the event for use on social media channels. Krispy Kreme is also keen for material which they can share.

Please message if you are interested - also email Dave King at: [email protected]

Happy to credit any material published.

Thanks to our amazing sponsors Langdale Nursing Home, Tesco and One Stop for helping us to raise funds for the The Diving Museum Gosport and Naomi House & Jacksplace.

And we are grateful too for the community support from the Gosport Wombles, Hampshire Police Cadets and the 9th Alverstoke Brownies.🙂
