Remember this? ⚽🍻

The atmosphere on our decking during England’s run to the final in 2021 was something special. Summer evenings, packed benches, cold pints, nerves, cheers and a fantastic atmosphere as everyone came together to support the Three Lions.

Well, it’s nearly time to do it all again! 🏆

We’ll be showing every England game live and absolutely FREE throughout the 2026 World Cup, both indoors and on our decking.

That’s right… no tickets, no booking fees, no paying to reserve your seat and no expensive entry charges.

We want everyone to feel welcome and be part of it. Bring your friends, bring the family, meet familiar faces and enjoy everything that makes matchdays at The White Swan so special.

Just turn up, grab a drink and soak up the atmosphere.

First come, best seated.

Why wait until next week? Warm up with us tonight as England take on New Zealand live from 9pm. ⚽🍻

Not just a pub… we’re your home for every England match.

I don’t usually use Facebook for personal posts, but today I wanted to make an exception for a lovely friend of mine, Helen Gosling.

Many people locally will remember the tragic accident that changed Helen and her family’s lives forever. What followed was a journey of heartbreak, courage, resilience and hope.

Helen has shared that story in her book, Woken Up Beautiful Soul, a deeply moving account of loss, unconditional love, and finding strength when life feels impossible. Throughout, the strength, devotion and determination of the women at its heart shine through.

Knowing how much of herself Helen has poured into this book, I couldn’t let the occasion pass without mentioning it.

If you’re free on Thursday, please head over to Otley for her book launch and signing. Supporting local people and sharing their stories matters, and I know Helen would love to see you there.

Helen, you should be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved. Wishing you every success on Thursday and beyond. ❤️📚✨

Please take a moment to like, comment on and share this post.

Not for me or The White Swan, but so this incredible book can reach as many people as possible. You never know who may be facing grief, loss or difficult times right now. If Helen’s story can bring even one person hope or comfort, sharing it is worth it.

Some stories deserve to be heard, and this is one of them. ❤️

Two years ago today, rugby league lost one of its greatest heroes, Rob Burrow.

Despite facing the devastating challenge of Motor Neurone Disease, Rob showed the world what courage, determination and resilience truly look like. His positivity never wavered, and the way he inspired others both on and off the field will never be forgotten.

Many of us will remember not only the player he was, but the awareness, understanding and hope he and his family brought to so many other families affected by MND.

As we mark two years since his passing, we remember a remarkable man whose legacy continues to live on through the lives he touched and the inspiration he gave to millions.

Rest easy, Rob. ❤️🏉💙💛

I am aware of a post that was shared on Yeadon - Our Community today, which has since been removed.

I’m not going to go into the details or background, but what I will say is that I will always support the staff who work at The White Swan and my duty managers.

We are a team. We don’t always get everything right, and when mistakes happen we will address them, learn from them and move forward. However, I will never apologise for supporting people who come to work, work hard, and do their best.

The situation involved a new member of staff on their very first shift. Like all of us, they are learning. Every single person who works in hospitality had a first day once, and none of us got everything right.

What we ask from our customers is exactly what we try to show others ourselves — a little patience, kindness and understanding.

Reading the comments of support for both the pub and our staff was genuinely heartwarming and reminded me why we are proud to be part of this community.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment, message and show their support. It meant a great deal to the team and to me personally.

Every day is a school day. We all make mistakes, we all learn, and we all grow. A little kindness and understanding can make a world of difference.

Helen ❤️

P.S. I will always support my staff. Feedback is welcome, abuse is not. I won’t tolerate nastiness towards any member of the team, regardless of their role or how long they’ve been with us.

Not just a pub… we’re your community hub.

A little reminder from us at The White Swan ❤️

Yesterday, in the heat, our staff spent time trying to make part of our beer garden a little more child friendly for families to enjoy over the summer ☀️

Unfortunately, during close down last night, we discovered that some children, whose parents or guardians were present in the beer garden at the time, had pulled fire safety signage off the wall and damaged it, as well as moving decorative stone around the garden area.

We absolutely welcome families and children — we’re proud to be a community pub and want everyone to enjoy the space safely and respectfully.

But please remember — children remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians whilst on the premises.

Damage, no matter how small it may seem, still costs money and time to replace or repair, and for small independent businesses like ours it all adds up.

We’re not just a pub, we’re your community hub — and we ask everyone to help us look after it ❤️

Thanks for your understanding and continued support.

🧽 JOIN 🧽

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join the kitchen team at The White Swan Yeadon.

As one of our valued Kitchen Porters moves on to pursue a fantastic football scholarship opportunity, we’re now looking for someone new to step into the role and become part of our hardworking team ⚽❤️

If you’re looking to begin a career in hospitality, gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen, or simply want a reliable role within a busy and supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you 🍽️

We’re looking for someone who is:
✔️ Hard-working
✔️ Reliable and conscientious
✔️ Has an eye for cleanliness and organisation
✔️ Able to work in a fast-paced environment
✔️ Calm under pressure during busy services
✔️ A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

This is not an easy role. Professional kitchens are busy, physically demanding environments, and everybody is expected to pull their weight throughout service. It’s not the job for someone wanting to spend their shift standing on their phone checking Snapchat 💪

In return, you’ll become part of a supportive team, learn valuable kitchen skills, and gain experience within hospitality.

Flexible hours are available, including evenings and weekends.

To apply, send us a Facebook message or email your CV to the pub ❤️
