☀️🇪🇸 ONE LAST TASTE OF SUMMER… 🇪🇸☀️

You know those evenings on holiday that you wish you could bottle up and bring home?

The sun is slowly setting, there’s still warmth in the air and the lights are beginning to twinkle. There’s a cold jug of sangria on the table, little plates of tapas being passed around and nowhere you particularly need to be. 🌅🍷

Then you hear the sound of acoustic music in the background and think… this is what summer should feel like.

By September, the kids will be back at school, the holidays will be over and autumn will be waiting just around the corner.

But we’re not quite ready for it yet. ☀️

So, before we say goodbye to summer, join us on Friday 11th September for One Last Taste of Summer — an evening of Spanish food, music and hopefully a little Mediterranean warmth right here in Yeadon. 🇪🇸

Our very own Spanish chef Gabriel will be in the kitchen serving authentic Spanish tapas, made exactly as tapas should be — lots of little dishes for the table, sharing, tasting and taking your time over.

And as the sun goes down, Dave Prater will be joining us with chilled acoustic numbers to soundtrack the evening. 🎶🌅

Now all we need is one of those beautiful September evenings and a Yorkshire sunset… we’ll sort the tapas and sangria, but we’ll leave that bit to Mother Nature! 😂☀️

Yesterday, we opened the White Swan two minutes late — and we really do sincerely apologise to anyone who was kept waiting.

To the people who were waiting outside yesterday and have since left us a one-star review, we wanted to explain what had happened.

The staff team due to open the pub came across a road traffic incident on their way to work. Rather than drive past to make sure the doors opened precisely on time, they stopped and stayed at the scene until others more qualified to help arrived.

Our doors opened at 12.02pm.

We had no tables booked for 12 noon, and our room check-in is from 2pm, so no bookings or guests’ stays were affected.

Two minutes late — because somebody needed help.

At the White Swan, “not just a pub — a community hub” is more than a one liner we put on a poster. It means looking after people when they need it, whether they are customers, neighbours or complete strangers.

Someone who needs help may not be able to wait those two minutes. ❤️

Another beautiful wedding celebration at The White Swan 🤍

Tonight, we have the honour of hosting Alex and Candi’s celebrations with their family and friends — and it is already such a lovely occasion.

There are so many thoughtful little touches, including the beautiful crochet bride and groom, which were also used on Mum’s wedding day 30 years ago. What a special piece of family history to include.

Congratulations, Alex and Candi. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together 🥂

This Bank Holiday weekend, come and spend a little time with us at your local. 🤍

We’ll be showing all televised Premier League matches live, so whether you’re meeting friends for a pint, bringing the family for Sunday lunch, or joining us to cheer on Leeds United v Brentford at 2pm on Sunday, there’ll be a warm welcome waiting.

Sunday lunches are served from 12pm — perfect for making an afternoon of it before the match.

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to be part of two very special celebrations, welcoming two lovely couples, their families and friends to The White Swan.

We were honoured to host Darren and Vicky’s wedding celebration in our function room, while Sophie and James enjoyed their pre-wedding meal in our snug. Both spaces looked beautiful and the whole day was filled with love, laughter and lots of happy memories.

It means so much to be trusted with these precious moments. Wishing you all the happiness in the world for the exciting chapter ahead.

A Pay As You Feel evening with live music from The Signals, raising money for Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue. Honey’s story touched so many people locally, and we’d love to see the village come together in her memory.

Most of us can only imagine the heartbreak of watching someone we love leave for a shift, expecting them home later — never thinking it could be the last time we see them.

Yesterday, PCs Matthew Blades and Tom Clough made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. Alongside them, five other lives were tragically lost, leaving more families facing an unbearable loss.

The knock on the door no family should ever have to answer. The silence left behind for the people who loved them, and for the colleagues who must somehow return to work without them.

Our hearts are with every family, friend and colleague left behind. There are simply no words big enough.

To every officer who puts on their uniform, and every loved one standing proudly behind them, thank you. Your courage, commitment and support are never taken for granted.

The Thin Blue Line is not just a line. It is a family — and today, that family is hurting. 💙

𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 💙

A GoFundMe appeal has been launched to support the families of PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough.

The appeal states that all funds raised will be for the benefit of their families, with Cleveland Police to be consulted to ensure the money is distributed appropriately and in accordance with their wishes.

At the time of writing, more than £8,000 has already been raised.
