🐑 As Spring gets slowly warmer, and we creep towards Summer, it’s hard not to think about The Wooly Ewe, our six-bed dorm room designed by artist Jesse Paul Wright.

With 380 repurposed woollen tiles woven into the ceiling, as well as hooves imprinted on the floor, The Wooly Ewe is as full of Spring as any room could be. Cosy, curious, and just a little bit sheepish.

We’ve been loving Curtis Holder’s Silent Echoes, Spoken Truths exhibition at Leeds Art Gallery.

The show follows Holder’s 18-month residency in the gallery. During this time, Holder immersed himself in the gallery's life, explored the collection, formed bonds with people he met, and created portraits and drawings of people and moments. Make sure that you get to see it soon - there’s only a month left!

✨ Come and explore some of the wonderful things going on in Leeds - we’ve been visiting Karanjit Panesar’s Furnace Fruit at Leeds Art Gallery.

Furnace Fruit explores the story of Punjabi immigrants who found themselves working in British foundries in the 1950s and 1960s, through weaving together sculpture, prints, and film.

✨The wonderful Mandy Barker is currently fundraising for a new photobook, Photographs of British Algae. An exploration of fast fashion through cyanotype prints made up of garments recovered from Britain’s Coatline. We love Mandy’s work, and have been infatuated with it since she created Ocean Galaxy at The Art Hostel, which explores waste through footballs found throughout the world.

We’re excited that one of our fantastic volunteers at the Art Hostel artist Georgie Holt will be presenting zines as part of a new Slit Collective installation at Serf in Leeds on Friday 30 August from 7.30pm.

Risograph printed at Convention House, with East Street Arts, the zine and installation, Harvest, is an exploration of folk tradition, family, memory; joy and horror, gods, gleaning and process. Shared alongside Red Noise, a new filmmaking project from the collective, which will be shown throughout the evening, conjuring an exciting multimedia display throughout the evening.

You can also spot some of Georgie’s photography exhibited in North Bar, on New Briggate, over the next few months.
