Let your sage and mint grow large in pots so you can have enough for cooking which is good for health and pitch some to add to your flowers. The herbs really wakes up our sense of smell, in a different way to the pretty flowers.

I just love Lowe Farm at this time of year. We’ve come through the damp, muddy days and everything is starting to bud and come into flower, which always makes the place feel fresh again.

I’ve also ticked off my rather epic to do list, getting the rooms deep cleaned and refreshed ready for another year of guests to enjoy.

Looking at these photos really reminds me just how beautiful and peaceful Lowe Farm is, with so much space to unwind. I feel very lucky to be able to live here.

We’ve got a large, clean concrete yard too, which makes parking easy and convenient with plenty of off-road space. Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxing stay or just passing through, comfort and ease come as standard.

Breakfast is one of my favourite parts of the day here, and I still get a real buzz when I hear guests talking about it.

Messages like this genuinely make my day. If you’ve stayed with us, I’d love to know, which breakfast would you come back for?

The herbs spent the winter in the greenhouse, so we were able to keep using them through the colder months. Now they’re back by the house, within easy reach again.

Perfect for adding straight into a sandwich, as we shared in an earlier post. Fresh herbs really do make all the difference.

The kitchen garden is starting to come into its own, with the first rhubarb ready and the cooking onions coming along well.

I’ve also been using a simple membrane cover, making holes with a kitchen cutter and sealing them with a gas burner. It’s held in place with pieces of wood at each end, stapled on for weight, and can be rolled up when not needed. It’s been practical and easy to manage through the season.

A few guests with their own plots have taken the idea home, and one couple even took a piece with them to try out. I later received a lovely message to say it’s helped them carry on gardening into retirement, which was very nice to hear.

This beautiful European beech tree is such a joy in the garden. Right now, you can cut a few branches while there’s still a hint of pink in the buds and pair them with fresh flowers indoors. As the leaves begin to unfurl, it becomes just as lovely to use in arrangements later in the season.

I so enjoy this tree when the sky is blue!

The garden is looking especially beautiful right now, and it’s a joy to see our guests taking it all in. Many leave feeling inspired, with new ideas for their own spaces and a list of plants they’re excited to grow at home.
