What a stunning view on the way to work this morning!

It was far too beautiful to just drive past, so Ryan had to stop and take a few pictures.

Mornings like this are a lovely reminder of just how lucky we are to work in such a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales.

Both fixed and rolling road closures are in place between Helmsley and Leyburn today due to the The Tour Of Britain.

The race starts in Helmsley at 11am, taking some of the world's best riders from the North York Moors to the Yorkshire Dales, with an expected finish time of around 3.20pm in Leyburn.

Parking at the finish in Leyburn is available at:

- Opposite Tennants on the A684, what3words ///slope.mulls.pranced
- Wensleydale Show parking field on the A6108, what3words ///comfort.reporting.farmland
- Leyburn Rugby Club on the A684, what3words ///sport.fetch.engulfing

Disabled parking is available in the town centre car park, near the fire station, which can be accessed from the A6108 Moor Road, what3words ///tend.gobblers.feelers

Please park responsibly and do not park on the race route. Please also avoid parking on nearby residential streets.

Due to the closure of Middleham Bridge, anyone travelling to Leyburn will need to follow the diversion route:
- From the south towards Leyburn: follow the A6108, B6268 and A684 via Masham and Bedale
- From the north towards Leyburn: follow A1 and A684 via Bedale

PLEASE BE AWARE – POSSIBLE ROAD CLOSURES

The Tour of Britain will be passing through our area today (Saturday 5th September), so there may be some road closures and delays throughout the morning and afternoon.

The Wensleydale Heifer is OPEN AS USUAL, but if you have a lunch booking with us, please allow yourself a little extra time for your journey as your usual route may be affected.

The disruption should mainly be during the morning and afternoon, so we don’t expect evening arrival / bookings to be affected.

And a little plea from us... if you do get caught up in the closures, please be kind to the Heifer Herd! Unfortunately, we don’t have much influence over where the closures are put in place.

Please be aware that the Tour of Britain is in our area Saturday 5th September, and may cause some delays due to road closures.

We are open as usual, but please allow yourself some extra time if you do have a lunch booking with us, as your journey may take a little longer than normal.

The disruption should mainly be during the morning and afternoon and shouldn’t affect anyone arriving in the evening.

Please also be mindful if contacting us regarding the road closures, as unfortunately they are completely out of the Heifer Herd’s control.

This week it’s Brice’s turn to spill the beans! As one of the younger members of the Herd, Brice is part of our brilliant Sunday Brigade and he’s also one of Kerry & Damien’s lovely boys.

How long have you worked at the Heifer?
Nearly 3 years!

What’s your favourite Heifer dish?
Oysters, followed by the Maple Salad – YUM!

Favourite Heifer room?
James Bond – we’ve stayed there as a family and we love it! 🎬🍸

Favourite song?
Sunflower by Post Malone

Favourite local place to visit?
The Forbidden Corner – because it’s perfect for children AND adults.

(We’re beginning to spot a theme here… The Forbidden Corner is officially becoming the Herd’s favourite day out! 😂)

Some lucky person was treated to these absolutely stunning flowers at the weekend… and just look at them 😍

We’re incredibly lucky to work with the very talented Lambert's Florist, who always create the most beautiful arrangements for us.

If you’re popping into Leyburn, their lovely shop is definitely worth a visit. And it’s not just gorgeous flowers they also have a wonderful selection of gifts, so be warned… you might go in for a browse and come out with a bag full! 😂

Fancy a last-minute Yorkshire Dales escape?

With the school holidays nearly coming to an end, why not squeeze in one last little getaway before normality returns?

We still have a few rooms remaining this week.

Come and enjoy a night away, fabulous food, a good night’s sleep and a proper Heifer breakfast the next morning.

Be quick though, once they’re gone, they’re gone!
