One of our favourite things is helping guests discover walks they might otherwise never find. 🥾🌿

Over the years, we've built up quite a collection of walking maps, route guides and local knowledge here at Eastfield Lodge. Whether you're looking for a gentle riverside stroll, a circular pub walk, or a full day exploring the Dales, we're always happy to point you in the right direction.

Some guests arrive with a detailed walking itinerary. Others decide over breakfast where their boots might take them that day. We love both approaches!

The Yorkshire Dales are best experienced on foot, and we're always delighted to help you make the most of your time here.

Just ask - we can usually recommend a walk to suit your mood, the weather, and how many beer or brew stops you’ll need on the way! 🍺☕

If you're staying with us at Eastfield Lodge on 21st June, you're in for a treat! 🚜🐑

The North Yorkshire County Show is just a shot drive away from Leyburn and it's one of our favourite local events of the year.

From impressive livestock displays and equestrian competitions to local food, crafts, trade stands and plenty of family-friendly entertainment, there's something for everyone to enjoy. It's a wonderful way to experience the heart of rural Yorkshire and support local farmers, producers and businesses.

One of the best things? You can enjoy a fantastic day out and be back at the lodge to relax and share stories from the day.

Such a privilege to lead the first Walking Break of 2026. A diverse group including friends from a Northern Rambling Group, family members coming together from London and Florida, returners who last visited 10 years ago, our stoic Scottish couple and those from as far south as you can go! The weather joined that theme of varied, chucking a mixture of everything at us over the week! And of course the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with each Dale bringing its own character. We wandered through Wensleydale, skipped and survived in windswept Swaledale and were won over by the wonder of Wharfedale! The highlight for me was the moment the team united in the rescue of a ewe firmly wedged between the bars of a metal feeder. The satisfaction of her release allowing her two lambs to feed once more on these remote and open moors was magical. It was a spectacular, challenging and truly wonderful week. Thank you all. #

Yorkshire is a real haven for cycling, whether you’re planning a weekend of serious miles or gentle rides with pub stops along the way. 🚴🌳

Think quiet lanes, long climbs with even better views at the top, little villages to stop for coffee and cake, and that feeling of having the countryside almost entirely to yourself.

We’ve welcomed quite a few cycling groups to Eastfield Lodge over the years, and it’s become a lovely base for riders wanting to explore this part of North Yorkshire at their own pace. Most groups guide themselves using our maps and favourite local routes, setting off after a healthy and hearty breakfast and returning tired, windswept but happy.

Back at the lodge, there’s secure bike storage, a drying room for damp kit, big comfy spaces to relax in, and plenty of good food nearby (or a well-earned takeaway if that’s the mood).

If you’re part of a cycling group looking for somewhere relaxed and comfortable to stay while you explore the Dales, we’d love to welcome you to Eastfield Lodge.

We are passionate about walking, so are always delighted when guests ask us for guidance or route recommendations. If you want to fully immerse yourself in the Dales, we do offer bespoke guided walking stays shaped entirely around you - your pace, your confidence, and what you feel like on the day.

If ‘away day’ has started to feel like another hotel meeting room and a lukewarm coffee, it might be time for a different approach! ☕🧑‍💻

We offer a refreshing setting for corporate stays, retreats, and team get-togethers here at Eastfield Lodge. Set in the Yorkshire Dales, it’s the kind of place where people naturally switch off from the usual noise and start thinking a little more clearly.

With space for up to 15 single beds in the main lodge (and up to 23 across the apartments), we’re well suited to teams who want to come together without feeling cramped. Think strategy sessions with a view, and space for downtime in between.
