We booked Pompian lodge mainly because of the K9 splash for our 3 dogs. There's our two chocolate boys Charlie, 11, and his son George, 8 and our little girl Phoebe, 10.
Charlie's always been a water lover. He was a little hesitant about the ramp going into the pool at first, but the sight of his own personal swimming pool soon overcame that and his tail almost wagged itself off with delight.
Phoebe is our little tomboy, nothing really phases her, she's not usually that interested in swimming and happy to paddle around on the edges but she is ball mad so it was easy enough to encourage her to jump in. She surprised us with how strong a swimmer she actually is, and she loved racing me across the pool to get the ball.
George has always been very unsure in water, he'll paddle, but prefers to keep his paws firmly on solid ground so we've never actually seen him swim before. I had my doubts that he'd want to join in but decided to leave him in Ian's capable hands. Ian did a wonderful job of gaining George's trust. The look on George's face the first time Ian swept him off the ramp was one of sheer terror. But after a couple of quick spins into the pool and straight back onto the ramp, he soon realised that it was safe to venture in. Ian stayed constantly by his side until he gained confidence and it only took around 10 minutes until he was brave enough to jump in all by himself. I was one proud dog mum watching him swim all the way across the pool to chase down the ball....and you could tell he was so pleased with himself too.
We had such a fabulous time we booked in for another session the next day.
As for Pompian lodge itself....it's HUGE, far bigger than it looks in the pictures. There's a cozy seating area at one end, with 2 comfy sofa's and a chair. Great for chilling with a film and a bottle of wine. The pool table was a great surprise for my partner, and we spent an entire afternoon playing while the dogs snoozled away contentedly after their swim. The kitchen area is spotlessly clean and had (almost) everything we could wish for. The only very slight negative is that there's no freezer compartment, so my partner had to survive without his ice cream fix...but honestly- there was literally nothing else we could fault.
As for the bedroom - spacious doesn't even begin to describe it - where else have you seen a built in sauna 😲 The bed is comfy, and there's extra pillows and blankets provided, not that we needed them as the radiators gave off plenty of heat.
There's a fenced off area right outside, which was perfect for letting the dogs out while we made breakfast... and Charlie enjoyed shouting 'good morning' to the 3 horses in the opposite field.
So many places claim to have ' everything you could need for a relaxing stay' ...Pompian lodge really delivers, and then some!
We will most definitely be returning. Biggest hugs to Gail for being so super helpful and friendly, to Ian for looking after our furkids so well, and not forgettin Gill, the horses, and the super-sweet little goat.
Can't wait to come back 😁
