THERE WILL BE A BLUE BADGE ONLY VISITING DAY ON WEDNESDAY 18th MARCH. Spaces for this need to be booked via message or email. BCGT will send an email to those who have previously sent in thier details for Blue Badge days inviting them to book in.

We are incredibly excited to announce that tickets for the Opening Ceremony & Celebration Weekend 15th -17th May will be available from next week. These will be bookable via eventbrite & full details will be posted on FB next week. Each day over the weekend offers a different experience but ticket numbers are limited so please ensure you book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

CELEBRATION AFTERNOON perfect for families
BBQ Food Music, dancing & a talk about the background to the idea & construction of “On Freedoms Wings” & an opportunity to chat to the Trustees & ask questions.

This beautiful sculpture is on our land & is the fruition of an idea born over supper & a glass of wine. Although not fully open yet, it can be hugely enjoyed when coming to stay at Brills Farm as it is just across the field!

***OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY DATE & NOVEMBER VISITING DAYS***

The Bomber County Gateway Trust is delighted to announce that “On Freedom’s Wings” will be officially opened on the weekend on the 15-17th May 2026. This will be marked with an Opening Ceremony & celebrations.
This historic date will mark the past, the present & the future & bring together all those who have helped make this wonderful sculpture possible.
More details on attending the event will be made available in the new year.

In the meantime constuction continues. We hope to have a more formal car parking system in place for visiting, early in the new year but in the mean time the dates we are open for visiting through to the end of November are as follows:

There are no other entrances.

* ENTRANCE IS FREE but all donations are very welcome for the ongoing work required & future maintain of the bomber sculpture. Donations can be made on the day at the site or online at www.bombergatewaytrust.co.uk

* Parking is on a gravel surface & the overflow is on grass.

* The walk up to the site is approx 500m on a gravel track (please see information below regarding accessibility) unfortunately no vehicles are allowed up the track while the site is open. This is to ensure the safety of those walking.

* Please NO DOGS, we are delighted to welcome dog lovers & owners but please leave your pets behind for this trip. The land owners don’t let thier own dogs out on this land & this rule is there to protect not only their land, livelihood & stock but also other visitors to the site who may not enjoy being in close proximity to unknown dogs. Please understand & respect this. This is not going to change & the only exception is to registered guide & assistance dogs.

*There aren’t any loos or refreshments available at the site

*Drones may not be launched from anywhere on the site or the surrounding land which is all privately owned.

* VIEWING POINTS When the site is closed these are the best places to see the sculpture from. It is the official one, is on the lane known as Newark Road. The area is well signed.

There is also a large lay-by on the Northbound side of the A46 opposite the Bomber. This is an easy place to stop & take a photo.

PLEASE use the above viewing points & don’t go down the private quarry & farm access road. Due to ongoing trespassing on the private road & the field next to the bomber, Police monitored CCTV has been installed & unauthorised vehicles & visitors recorded. There are large signs that cannot be missed, warning that it is private & there is no access to the bomber. THANK YOU

*ACCESSIBILITY
Please note the site is not yet finished. The track while reasonably level & previously compacted has now had thousands of visitors walking over it & heavy construction vehicles using it. This has resulted in the gravel loosening & has made it increasingly difficult for standard wheel chairs to traverse.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer lifts from the car park on general open days due to insurance restrictions, but we are putting on a day for blue badge holders only, when we will have a solution in place. The exact date is tbc but will be in early Nov. Please message us directly to be added to the list for notification of further details for our Blue Badge day.

**UPDATE ON OPENING DATES FOR OCT/NOV & DETAILS ON ACCESSABILITY**

We very much look forward to welcoming everyone to this very special sculpture. We have put together some information to help with your planning.

VISITOR INFORMATION
* Access to the site is via the entrance on FOLLY LANE only. The exact location can be found using What3Words

*Parking is still on a temporary surface & overflow is on grass.

* The walk up to the Bomber is approx 500m on a level gravel track

* There are no vehicles allowed up to the Bomber other than those of the organisers.

* No dogs are allowed on site other than registered guide dogs & assistance dogs.

* We are unable to provide loos or refreshments at the site

* Drones - No permission will be given for the launching of drones from the site or surrounding land. If you wish to fly a drone it must be launched safely from a public space, remain in line of sight from the operator & not interfere with any members of the public visiting the site.

* ACCESSABILITY - Unfortunately BCGT is unable to provide transport up to the site for blue badge holders. This is due to changes in the site insurance. The track has been well tested by wheelchairs in the last couple of weeks & is also ok for walkers. At this point motorised mobility scooters cannot be used.
We are working on a provision to enable those blue badge holders who are unable to manage the walk / wheelchair ride from the car park to be able to view the Bomber, but it will be on a SEPARATE day. Please message us directly for more information & to book in

UPDATE FOR VISITING THE SITE & VIEWING
**Please read entire post for full deatils**

At the moment the site will only be open on specific dates. (See below) This is to allow construction to continue & a car park to be built. We hope to have a car park & booking system into place in approximately the next 6 weeks to allow everyone to enjoy the Bomber at their convenience.

ENTRANCE FOR ACCESS TO THE SITE
There is ONLY ONE ENTRANCE for visiting the site. The land which the bomber sits on is privately owned, as is, the surrounding land & If you decide to push through fencing, climb gates that are closed, walk through livestock & let cattle out, you are not only trespassing but causing enormous problems & spoiling this for everyone as time & money have to then be spent in repairs & apologies made to farmers whose livelihood you have jeopardised. PLEASE PLEASE respect this & do not try to access the site through any route except the main entrance.

PARKING
The landowners are allowing parking on the grass field inside the entrance. There is no hard standing & please follow the parking attendants directions.
Please use the car park & do not park on the surrounding lanes as they are narrow & easily blocked causing problems for everyone

GETTING TO THE BOMBER FROM YOUR CAR
There is a level gravel track from the parking area. The distance is approximately 500m. It is a 5-10 minute walk depending on speed. PLEASE KEEP TO THE TRACK

ACCESSIBILITY
For those with a “Blue Badge” who are unable to make the walk, we will be providing a vehicle to to conduct those who require assistance to the bomber. Please note this is being provided as a courtesy & is not an official vehicle. If you choose to take this transport you do so at your own risk.

CAN YOU TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS

CAN YOU STAND UNDERNEATH THE BOMBER
The short answer is NO. While you can get extremely close, there is security fencing around the base. This is there for your safety, please do not attempt to open or climb the fencing.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED ON THE SITE?
NO dogs cannot be taken up onto the site unless they are registered assistance dogs. While we discourage dogs attending with visitors, If absolutely necessary dogs can remain in the owners car if temperatures allow but must not exit the car park.
