🌊 A Huge Thank You to Our Guest Swimmers! 🌊

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who joined us for our invitation-only swim session at Hanworth Country Park and took the time to provide feedback on our new swimming lake.

The response has been fantastic, with swimmers praising the quality of the water, the peaceful surroundings, and the huge potential the lake offers for open water swimming, paddle boarding, fitness training, cold water immersion, and general wellbeing.

We also received some valuable suggestions regarding a few minor safety improvements, which we will be carrying out before opening the lake to the wider public. Your feedback has been incredibly helpful and will play an important role in ensuring we provide the safest and best possible experience for everyone.

Following discussions with many of the swimmers on the day, it became clear just how excited people are about what Hanworth Country Park can offer. The combination of open water swimming, paddle boarding, heated shower facilities, beautiful countryside surroundings, and the planned addition of a sauna before Winter 2026 creates a fantastic opportunity for those looking to embrace the benefits of hot and cold water therapy.

It was also great to welcome the lovely Calley back to the park. Calley is a fully qualified lifeguard and will be on duty during our organised swimming sessions, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone using the lake.

Looking ahead, we are also exploring the possibility of developing a triathlon training facility, making use of the park’s extensive grounds and unique outdoor environment. With swimming, running routes, open spaces, and wellbeing-focused facilities, Hanworth Country Park has the potential to become a destination for swimmers, paddle boarders, fitness enthusiasts, cold water swimmers, and anyone looking to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

Subject to the completion of the final safety improvements, we are aiming to open the lake for public bookings from 20th June 2026. Further details regarding booking procedures, session times, and safety requirements will be announced shortly.

Thank you once again to everyone who attended, offered feedback, and helped shape the future of this exciting new facility. We look forward to welcoming you back to the lake very soon.

🚂 Exhibitor Spotlight – Monty Fowler 16433 🚂

As we continue counting down to the Lincolnshire Steam Rally, we’re excited to showcase one of the fantastic engines you’ll be able to see in steam at this year’s event.

Meet Monty Fowler 16433, a beautifully restored steam roller presented by the team at Jubb Engineering, a local Lincoln business based on Doddington Road. Their passion and dedication to preserving Britain’s engineering heritage is clear for all to see, with Monty looking every bit as impressive today as he did during his working life.

But Monty isn’t just a stunning exhibit – he’s a genuine piece of Lincolnshire history.

Owned and operated by local contractor Bill Kitchen of Saxilby, Monty spent his working years helping to shape the county’s roads and infrastructure. Most notably, he assisted with the construction of the A1 at Grantham during the 1960s, as shown in some of the incredible historic photographs featured here.

The story doesn’t stop there.

The trailer seen behind Monty in the first photograph is also a piece of local engineering heritage, having been built by William Foster & Co. of Lincoln. At the time, Foster’s factory stood on the site where Morrisons Lincoln is located today, making this combination of engine and trailer a remarkable showcase of Lincolnshire’s industrial past.

To think that both Monty and his trailer played their part in the county’s history and are still being enjoyed generations later is truly something special.

And the best part? Monty won’t just be parked up for display.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to watch him in action as he completes regular laps around our dedicated steam and vintage vehicle showcase circuit, giving everyone the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a working steam roller exactly as he would have appeared during his working life.

From helping build some of Britain’s most important roads to being lovingly preserved and restored for future generations, Monty represents everything that makes steam rallies so fascinating – history, engineering and local heritage brought back to life.

A huge thank you to Jubb Engineering for bringing Monty along. We know visitors are going to love seeing him up close and seeing him in motion this August.
