There’s something about a warm Devon afternoon that even the cats can’t resist… ☀️🐾

This lovely girl has been making the most of the sunshine, finding her favourite perch and watching the world go by. She’s extra relaxed at the moment… and for good reason.

We’re expecting kittens very soon 🐱💕

She’s as friendly as ever, happy to sit nearby while you enjoy a quiet moment outside, especially if there’s a sunny spot involved.

There’s something quite special about being here this time of year… new life on the way, longer days, and that gentle, peaceful feeling that comes with it.

We’ve had two very special new arrivals here at Torridge House Cottages… 🐷💕

Meet our gorgeous little piglets, who joined us last week and have already stolen everyone’s hearts.

They’re incredibly friendly, full of character, and always up to something. One minute they’re snuffling around together, the next they’re bouncing about like tiny spring-loaded toys.

At the moment, we’re calling them Jump and Spot… although we’re not sure who is who half the time as they never sit still for long! 😄

Guests staying with us can pop over to say hello, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch them at their most playful (which is most of the day, to be honest).

Do you think the names should stick… or would your little ones come up with something even better? 🐽✨

Nothing says “you’re on holiday in the countryside” quite like the sound of our cockerel starting the day.

A gentle wake-up call, a cup of tea in hand, and fresh Devon air… it’s the kind of morning that just feels right.

What a beautiful day here in North Devon… ☀️🌿

Endless green fields, bright blue skies, and that fresh countryside air that makes you want to stay outside all day.

It’s the kind of view that slows everything down… where the kids can run free, and you can just pause for a moment and take it all in.

There’s something quite special about a low-tide wander in Instow 🌊

Today’s adventure was all about wide open sands, little legs running free, and boats resting quietly on the estuary waiting for the tide to return. The kind of simple, salty-air day that children remember long after the holiday ends.

It’s only a short drive from Torridge House Cottages, and always feels like a proper change of pace… slower, calmer, and full of space to explore.

The Easter Bunny and our cheeky yellow chick have arrived…
and they’ve brought baskets full of treats with them 🧺✨

Little ones have been busy hunting for eggs,
running through the gardens,
and soaking up that fresh Devon sunshine ☀️

It’s one of our favourite times of year here
full of laughter, muddy boots, and chocolate smiles 🍫🐰

A few more photos of our six little chicks at Torridge House Cottages. 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥

They’re only tiny but already full of personality. Always sticking close to mum, pecking around in the straw, and occasionally having a little nap in a fluffy pile together.

If you’re staying here this spring, there’s a good chance you’ll spot them exploring the farmyard with their mum keeping a careful eye on everything. Children absolutely love watching them grow day by day. 🌿

That means you can spend the day exploring the beautiful beaches, winding country lanes and hidden villages of North Devon, then come back, plug in, and relax while your car recharges ready for tomorrow’s adventures. 🌿

An early morning sunrise at Torridge House Cottages, captured by Laura the other day. 🌅

The football pitch was completely quiet, the trees silhouetted against the golden sky as the first light of the day spread across the grass. One of those peaceful moments before the animals wake up and the children come running out for the first game of the day. ⚽

Sometimes the best part of staying in the countryside is simply stepping outside with a cup of tea and watching the sun come up over the Devon hills. 🌿

There is something about an evening at the beach that stays with you 🌊✨

These beautiful shots were taken at Visit Westward Ho just a short drive from Torridge House Cottages. The sky turning gold, the waves rolling in, a lone seagull gliding across the horizon… it is one of those simple, unforgettable North Devon moments.

Whether it is paddling at the edge of the sea, building sandcastles with the children or standing quietly watching the sun dip behind the headland, Westward Ho never disappoints.

A huge thank you to Maria Lock Photography for capturing the magic so perfectly. Her photography always seems to find that exact moment when the light changes and everything feels still.
