Stroll through into Sefton Park and up to the river at Otterspool. Row a boat, freestyle your frisbee, play golf

at Calderstones. Rooms are double with high ceilings, original features and ensuite or private bathroom. Breakfast is sourced from shops and allotments around our local multi cultural neighbourhood. Guests meet at breakfast: holidaymakers, conference goers, musicians, artists and art lovers exchange news and views.

Some time ago when New Brighton had a Lido we took tea in a cafe on Victoria Parade. It served fish and chips, tea, ice cream and jam roly-poly. The walls were covered in naive local views painted by the waitress's grandfather Mr D Clarke. I bought one as did visiting New Yorker Peter Daw. Are there more of these charming canvases around?

A year to the day after Queenie & Duke's family plans enlivened the first lockdown for the residents of Princes Park, Queenie's back on the nest. Last year they hatched 5 eggs, to great acclaim. Sadly, none survived. Better luck this time.

Square Tree House hotel B&B.

Square Tree House offers private accommodation with B&B and half board options. A boutique property with just five guest rooms. There are no crowds or queues. Tables are not shared in the spacious breakfast room and Guests may opt to take breakfast in their own en suite room. Square Tree House, a Grade 2 Listed townhouse in the leafy, Prices Park Conservation Area, is conveniently located for visitors to Spire Liverpool Hospital, the Parkfield Road BPAS Clinic, Belvedere Academy and Belvedere Preparatory School, the Toxteth Conference Centre, Sefton Park Palmhouse and both Universities.

We are Liverpool’s smallest independent, owner-managed boutique hotel. We are conveniently placed for all the main attractions and with free on street parking. Buses & taxis are plentiful & cheap. Bring your tablet or laptop & use the free wi-fi, there are no televisions in the bedrooms. We will take collection of your match tickets in advance of your arrival. We will share our ‘insider’s view’ to show you to the best local cafes and restaurants, beloved bars and specialist shops, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Join us in complimentary visits to exhibitions at the Tate. In winter breakfast is served in front of the open fire, in summer sit by the open window overlooking our Square Tree. Enjoy a selection of cold meats, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, croissants straight from the oven and local artisan breads. We don’t do fry ups. Vegetarians, vegans and any special dietary requirements are welcome, just let us know before you arrive.
