It’s very sadly time to bring to an end our time at Pant Golau after eleven wonderful year. It’s been an amazing place to retreat from the busyness of life back home, and for many memories - for us, our family and friends, as well as the many who have holidayed here. Sadly, the Welsh government policies have made it no longer economically viable. Though we really understand the reasons, especially on second homes, we are not so sure they’re working. So sadly, we made the decision to put the house on the market, and  we hope to reach completion. It’s gutting to anticipate saying goodbye .

The picture below is when we took whilst staying in the area in late 2013. We were hoping to find somewhere on this coast and when I took the picture from the Maes at Llandanwg I thought to myself., “somewhere there would be nice!” A year later we saw 3 Pant Golau was for and it was ours. For the last eleven years we’ve enjoyed the walk down the lane CMC and Pensarn station, round the harbour and across the marshes and dunes to lovely Llandanwg Beach - facing panoramic view views all the way. We will never forget those walks.

Due to a last minute cancellation the cottage is now available from Wednesday 9th and onward through October, including half term for short lets and weeks. This past week has been glorious as the pictures show, and while the rain has now arrived you can be sure the sun will shine again in our ‘bright valley!’

Pant Golau is the beautiful Welsh phrase for ‘Bright Valley,’ situated in the beautiful Pensarn valley and hamlet.

Now the story goes, and it’s generally true, that it rains a lot in Wales! In general it rains a lot on the mountains. The coast gets more sunshine. But the even better news is that some places get more sun than others.

Our Bright Valley is one of the best of those places.

It’s currently early January, very wet, and yesterday was the day of Storm Henk. I’ll be really honest, it rained a lot. But even as the rain stopped and the clouds became lighter, our valley brightened and over the coast the blue sky appeared. The first place to be in sun was Llandanwg, closely followed by the Pensarn valley. The sun was shining again in our bright valley.

Where the forecast for neighbouring Llanbedr and the villages along the coast remained cloudy for the next few hours, we were bathed in sunshine! And so it remained for the rest of the day as we headed out to walk the 30mimute walk to the sea - along the lane, over the brilliant Cambrian Railway (one track, a service each way every two hours, four hours to Birmingham, and at three hours of stunning beauty!), round Pensarn Harbour, across the salt marshes and dunes, and on to the beach.

You’ll unlikely to be this way in December, though you’ll always be welcome - we have electric central heating and a log fire! More likely you’ll be here in the summer. But whenever you come it’s always brighter in Pant Golau!

Just 10 minutes walk from Pant Golau to Pensarn Station and you can board “one of the most epic train journeys in the world.”

Wales is full of beauty, and this journey takes in a lot of it....

Our lovely St Tanwg’s church at Llandanwg. A walk from Pant Golau around the edge of Pensarn Harbour brings you to this church nestled in the sand dunes backing on to the beach. It’s not to be missed.
