Nice day in the sun today.
Cup of tea and cake at the Black Cat Cafe, Glynllifon, LL54 5DY. Then a short walk along the stream on the old estate that is now a country park.

The road and busses are running as normal now. And we have been enjoying the warn spring sunshine on the mountains the last few days. Last week the wind was to cold to make walking enjoyable.

More bad news for llanberis, they have been digging up the high Street to replace pipes. Not sure when it is expected to finish but it means the busses no longer travel up the high Street and stop 50 yards from the front door. Now it is a 5 to 10 minutes walk to catch the bus.

Well it is a new year and I hope it will be dryer than 2024 !
The National slate museum is closed the entire year for refurbishments.
The electric mountain building has been flattened into an expensive car park, no more trips into the mountain that still is a big hydro electric battery. Hopefully this year will see the last of the road works that have plagued us for the last four years as they finish putting in four new 300kV cables.
And remember, if you plan to take the train to the top of Snowdon, please book you train tickets as it is often too late to get a seat after you arrive especially during the summer months.
A book if you like walking the hills is "great walks from Llanberis" by Des Marshall.

The roses that covered and added colour to the front stone wall have been removed after forty plus years. Two new roses have been planted but it will be a few years before they grow up and cover the wall. The new roses should have a nice smell and flower all summer.

Across the valley south east of Snowdon is Elephant mountain. It is a nice alternative walk than the climb up Snowdon as the start point is a lot higher and there are fewer people.

This rainbow was very close. It looked like one end was behind the art shop. Unfortunately the photo of the rainbow does not show the vivid colours that i saw.

It is surprising what you see when you are not doing the driving. Today we were getting supplies from Morrison's in Caernarfon, it was raining when we went but was lovely and sunny when we started the journey home. The highlight of the trip was a hawk six foot off the ground, hoovering above the long grass in new roundabout that is part of the Caernarfon bypass, it drops down and reappears a second later with a mouse in it's claws. Flies off to a post on the side of the road and I guess it was going to eat it but we were off alone the Llanberis road again.

The new rail track is meant to be in place by the end of the month and the cafe re opened at the top of the mountain. The weather has been so hot here and I guess it is fate that now the train is due to start it is changing to it's cooler cloudier welsh refreshing variant.
