I nearly didn’t post this evening.
 
Not because nothing has been happening here. Quite the opposite.
 
I’ve just found myself increasingly caught between wanting to share things from our life here at Erwain Escapes and the feeling that I should be posting regularly because that’s what you’re supposed to do.
 
And the truth is, sometimes I simply don’t want to sit down and think about what I should post this week.
 
I don’t want to spend time trying to work out what might get seen, what people might like, what I should be doing or whether I’ve left it too long since the last one.
 
I left a world of targets and KPIs behind me for a reason. And honestly, I don’t feel the need for another algorithm telling me what I should be doing, or to spend hours trying to fathom out SEO, AI and whatever comes next.
 
There are rather more important things I’d like to spend my time on.
 
Being present. Thinking about us, the wildlife, being in nature, welcoming and looking after our guests and everything else that makes Erwain Escapes what it is.

Not sitting in front of a PC or scrolling on my phone wondering what I should be posting, trying to create a Reel or put together another set of slides when I could simply be seeing it all as it is, rather than through a lens.
 
There’s always something to notice, but sometimes I just want to be here for it and be in the now.
 
So if I’m a little quieter from time to time, that’s probably why. And I’m finally OK with that 🌿

The only visitor we’d happily say goodbye to.
 
Being a host isn’t all preparing fresh linen and setting up the Wood burner. Sometimes it’s spending hours battling brambles and getting stung, in order to tackle these invasive weeds.
 
As pretty as Himalayan Balsam looks, it’s a total nightmare. It turns up uninvited, pushes out the local wildlife, steals all the pollinators, and eats away riverbanks and wetland areas. All it takes is just one tiny seed pod to explode!
 
We love keeping this little corner of Carmarthenshire peaceful for your escapes, but behind the scenes, it’s gloves on.

Turns out…even fire pits know when to take a holiday.

Ours has pressed pause for a while.

Not because we’ve fallen out of love with evenings around the fire, but because after weeks of wall-to-wall sunshine, the meadow and surrounding countryside are feeling the effects and so feel it’s the right thing to do.

After all, everything needs a break sometimes.

But, even without the fire, evenings at Erwain Escapes are still special.

🌅The sunsets are every bit as beautiful.
🪶The birds and grasshoppers are still providing the soundtrack.
✨And the stars…well, they haven’t gone anywhere.

Keeping it wild sometimes means making small changes. Every little helps. 🌿

Don’t stay here if you feel guilty about doing absolutely nothing.

It is easy to arrive with grand plans to venture out and tick off everything on a ‘must-visit’ list.

But the moment you step out onto the deck, spot the views and outdoor bath, and realise the only sound is that of peace, those plans tend to evaporate…And by day two, the car keys haven’t left the hook.

True immersion in nature doesn’t happen when you’re rushing past it…It happens when you finally choose to stay exactly where you are.

Complaining about the scorching heat all week, then celebrating when the grey clouds return. We’re never satisfied...us included!

But a cool breeze by the river with a chilled spritzer? Now that’s about as close to perfect as it gets. 🍎🥂
