There’s something quite satisfying about looking at a new year’s diary before all those dates start filling up!

We’re now taking 2027 bookings for exclusive venue hire at Mid Wales Holidays, and this is the best time to get in if you have particular dates in mind.

Over the last few years we’ve welcomed dog training groups, instructor courses, retreats, working tests, workshops and private groups — with many now returning year after year.

Hiring the whole venue gives you the freedom to make it completely your own.

So many of you know Coedygaer Fawr from coming here on a Completely Gundogs holiday.

You’ve trained in the fields, worked in the woods, used the ponds, probably walked up and down the hills far more times than you’d care to remember… 😂

But have you ever thought about coming back and doing absolutely no training at all?

The cottages at Mid Wales Holidays are available to book separately when we don’t have groups here, so you can bring the dogs back and simply enjoy the place.

🌿 Why we chose Mid Wales…

When we moved here in 2020, people thought we were mad.

We left behind everything familiar to start again in the middle of the Welsh countryside.

But we weren’t just buying cottages or fields.

We were buying space.

Space to walk the dogs.

Space to breathe.

Space to build something special.

Over the last few years we’ve welcomed hundreds of guests, watched people make new friends, celebrate birthdays, run workshops, train their dogs, switch off from busy lives and simply enjoy being surrounded by nature.

When I first imagined Ysgubor, I didn’t want it to be “just another room.”

I wanted to create a space that could become whatever people needed it to be.

One weekend it might be a dog training classroom.

🌾 Haymaking is complete!

One of my favourite times of year has arrived.

The fields have now been cut and baled, filling the air with that unmistakable smell of freshly cut hay. It’s a sure sign that summer is in full swing here at Coedygaer Fawr.

It’s always fascinating watching our local farmer transform the fields in just a couple of days. The bales not only provide winter feed for livestock but also make the most beautiful backdrop for evening walks and, of course, the occasional dog photo!

Life here follows the seasons, and I love sharing those little moments with our guests.

This weekend we welcomed a lovely group who hired both cottages and Ysgubor to celebrate a special 50th birthday.

The feedback was exactly what I’d hoped for when I created Ysgubor. Having a dedicated communal space meant everyone could come together to eat, chat, celebrate and make memories, while still having the privacy and comfort of their own accommodation just a few steps away.

We’ve been lucky enough to welcome this group back to Mid Wales Holidays for several years to run instructor courses, retreats and dog training events. Seeing groups return year after year is one of the biggest compliments we can receive.

🐾🏆 Did you know Mid Wales Holidays can also be hired as a venue for dog events?

Most people know us for our holiday cottages and gundog holidays, but our land has also become a fantastic venue for dog clubs, training groups, workshops and events.

Recently we were delighted to host the Mid Wales Gundog Society Working Test, and what a day it was!

With 15 acres of private land, varied terrain, ponds, woodland and stunning views, the venue provided plenty of opportunities for challenging tests and a great day for competitors and spectators alike.

The feedback was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many handlers and dogs enjoying the grounds.

What makes the venue particularly unique is that we can offer:

Part-Time Maintenance & Grounds Person Wanted

We’re looking for a reliable, practical and enthusiastic person to join our small team at our beautiful rural holiday accommodation and gundog training venue in Mid Wales.

This is a varied outdoor role, perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work and loves the countryside.

Hours

* Approximately 8 hours per week (flexible to suit both parties)
* Extra hours available during busy periods, particularly throughout the summer
* Opportunity for additional work for the right person
* To start immediately

Duties include:

* Mowing, strimming and topping
* General grounds maintenance
* Fence repairs
* Painting fences, railings and outdoor buildings
* Bringing in logs and general outdoor jobs
* Small maintenance jobs within the holiday accommodation and main house (putting up blinds, decorating, fixing minor issues etc.)
* Carrying out basic property and grounds safety checks/risk assessments
* Helping keep the whole site looking its best for our guests

We’re looking for someone who:

* Is practical and enjoys a varied, hands-on role
* Can work independently and use their own initiative
* Is reliable, trustworthy and takes pride in their work
* Has experience with general maintenance and grounds work
* Loves dogs! We have 5 Labradors and a Chihuahua and specialise in dog training holidays, so you’ll need to be happy working around dogs every day.

The role is based on a beautiful 15-acre rural site near Llandinam with holiday accommodation and training facilities. No two days are the same, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors in a friendly, relaxed environment.
