Wish I could give 6 stars.
My family and I have stayed at plenty of privately let holiday accommodation, but nothing comes close to Silver Birch. A high-quality, super-comfortable cottage, with everything from a near-new BBQ and constant hot water to sharp kitchen knives (and a knife sharpener) (where else has that?). It became a challenge while we were there to find something to complain about ...
'Ha – no corn-on-the-cob forks! Oh, there are six here.'
'No butter knife?! Ah – just found four.'
We had everything we could ever need, all packed perfectly into a spotlessly clean and spacious cottage. The hosts were always on hand but didn't intrude, only checking we'd got into the cottage okay and ready to help if any issues.
All this in the beautiful town of Llandovery, with everything from the castle and statue to wonderful pubs and restaurants, chic gift shops, a huge Co-op and every other shop you could need.
All that a short drive from the Llyn Brianne dam and reservoir, the Cynghordy Viaduct, countless charming towns, and stunning countryside. Brecon cathedral and town were a highlight, and nothing came close to kite feeding within 20 mins' drive – search for Red Kites Wales. Dinefwr Castle and woods near Llandeilo are also worth a visit – £6 all-day parking with no extra fee unless you go into the house and gardens.
We could not have enjoyed our two-week stay more and can't wait to go back to Llandovery, though only when Silver Birch Cottage is available.
PS Dogs are welcome just about everywhere in the area ♥️
