🧀How do you like your Welsh Rarebit? Traditional or with a twist?🧀
We had such a lovely lunch yesterday at the International Welsh Rarebit Centre in Defynnog, Sennybridge.❤️
We both love Welsh Rarebit but this is just the best!🧀
Each time we go, there are seasonal specials and this time we had the Summer Rarebit with goats cheese, honey, walnuts and marjoram.
It was delicious as always.😋
Then we just had to have coffee and cake, the courgette and lime is now my favourite! ❤️
The atmosphere inside is warm and relaxing and they sell local crafts and produce too.🧶
Upstairs from the cafe is a small exhibition space and we bought a couple of beautiful prints by a local artist to put in the cottage. 🧑‍🎨
We are so lucky to have so many amazing places within easy reach andWe love discovering new ones and sharing them with our guests. 🐷💚
Have you been to the Rarebit Centre, or is it still on your Welsh adventure list?

What has he been up to this time?🐷
I was out doing the morning animal rounds, feeding, cleaning out and filling houses with straw when Albert seized his opportunity.🐖
Wheelbarrow loads of clean bedding going into the pigs house when normal Albert would be busy helping to make his bed one of his favourite things to do since he was a piglet.
I should have known better than to leave the gate open just that bit too long with the electric fence off.
Albert saw his chance and lolopped off out of the run, while my back was turned, closely followed of course by his 2 brothers.🐖🐖🐖
It’s always a bit of a panic when this happens as you really can’t make a pig do anything they don’t want to do, let alone 3,and they have been known to trot off down the lane on occasions!🐖🐖🐖
Luckily, it has just been too hot for a piggy adventure recently and so after a quick wander around the place and the lure of some apples, they went into the field with the goats.😊
Hopefully they will be happy there for a while with a change of scene, space to run, their muddy wallow.🐖😊
Pigs really do love mud especially when it’s hot and we decided that Albert really is quite a clever pig isn’t he?!🐽

☀️Pretty, estuary town or quiet, sandy beach?☀️ which is your favourite?
🏰Today we were lucky enough to find both. We drove to Cardigan, a vibrant, market town with a medieval castle and lots of independent shops and cafes. ☕️
It sits on the Teffi and today was the Cardigan food festival, which was lovely to wander around and sit by the water.🌊
🐾Bonnie came too of course waiting patiently with a lick of ice cream, for her promised run on the beach. 🐾
☀️As the sun started to go down, we headed to Poppit Sands, a wide, empty, sandy beach, just perfect for dogs and only 5 minutes in the car.⛱️
Bonnie had hurt her back just before the heatwave so she hadn’t had a proper run since as it has been too hot.🥵
The tide was miles out and she absolutely loves the sea! She had a lovely time running in and out of the waves and swimming to catch her ball. 🌊
It was a really lovely day for all of us and we have found yet another new favourite place for a day trip with Bonnie🐾
We have so many amazing dog friendly beaches not too far from the cottage and pretty coastal towns.
🗓️We still have some availability during September if you fancy a peaceful late summer break after the kids go back to school.
📱Message me for any length of stay.

I have been a bit absent for the past few weeks. 😶‍🌫️
Our eldest son Hugh, came to stay with us a couple of months ago feeling very burnt out from working and travelling abroad for a few years.
After lots of rest and sunshine in nature with peace and quiet, he is happily very much better.🌱☀️
Having him here, has been a really wonderful and unexpected few weeks, spending time, which you don’t often get for more than a couple of days with your adult children. 💕
He has made it his job to help wherever he can, with the animals the land ( mainly waging war on the hundreds of huge patches of brambles), painting our last yellow wall white, and even ironing the bedding and cleaning the cottage at changeover times. 🦆
He has helped out our neighbours too with painting walls and barn doors and strimming.🫟
He even co-opted his friends Jim and Danielle to help out too, who came to stay in the cottage for a little reset from their busy tech lives around the world. 🌱
Happily, he is back to himself again and ready to tackle the world. Next stop Greece to sail his friends new catamaran and then Berlin. Bitter sweet for us as we have loved having him and will really miss him (and all his help around the place) but know that he will be back!🥰

✨Can you Imagine yourself arriving at The Old milking Parlour to a warm countryside welcome?✨

🐓🐐🦆Stunning views surround you as you drive down the quiet country lane to be greeted by our hens and cockerels with their busy little chicks, our 2 pesky ducks who follow us everywhere with incessant chatter, our nosy Angora goats standing at the fence waiting to meet our guests.
🐽Don't forget to say hello to Albert, Del and Rodney Trotter, our 3 naughty pigs who never want to be left out. Throw them a windfall apple off the trees if you spot one!🐷🐷🐷
🐈‍⬛🐕Blue, Bell and Bonnie are always around for a stroke too!

☕️Open the French doors out onto the patio with a cup of tea and a piece of homemade tiffin. Soak up the atmosphere, listen to the birds and wave to the odd tractor passing by.

🌱🌳Then wander the fields and woodland around the cottage. Stroll down the lane to the bridge over the gushing stream or walk with your dog along the footpath behind 💦The Milking Parlour, to a small pebbly beach. Our spaniel Bonnie's favourite place to swim!
Then when you are settled in and ready to explore, there is so much to see.
Set between The Brecon Beacons and the wild Cambrian Mountains and only 3 miles from the historic market town of Llandovery with its dog friendly independent shops, wonderful cafes and busy pubs serving amazing food.
🍦Visit the museum, the craft centre and stop and sit in the square with a delicious ice cream from Judy’s!🍦
🏰See the Norman ruins ofLlandovery castle with its gleaming knight watching over the town.
Follow along for lots more places to see and do and message me if you would like to come to stay
We would love to welcome you here!📲

Have you noticed the magic stirring in the woodland? ✨🌿

Something enchanting has arrived…

Whispers drift through the trees, tiny footprints appear where none were before, and if you look closely, you might just catch a flicker of fairy wings dancing in the dappled light.

Our woodland has welcomed some very special new residents, and they’re waiting to be discovered by those who truly believe in a little magic.

Will you follow the fairy trail and see who you can find? 🍄🧚‍♀️✨

✨Do you have a favourite place that you go to near where you live?💕
Mine is Aberglasney gardens which I absolutely love to visit around 25 minutes from Flying Pig Lets. 🌱
It is a beautiful, peaceful place to go, at any time of the year and ever changing with the seasons .⛲️🪴
We have taken lots of our family and friends there when they have been staying with us and recommend it to all of our guests. Everyone has loved it as much as we do.❤️
My favourite memory will always be a visit with my youngest daughter between her trips abroad. We wandered around in the sunshine and ended up sitting on a bench for ages just chatting. Sadly she now lives in Bali and I haven’t seen her for a long time. I really miss her but every time I visit the gardens, I find myself drawn to that bench and it reminds me of her.
This week, we took our lovely Mum and the gardens were absolutely stunning in the sunshine. ☀️
We had a lovely lunch in the cafe, watching the dragon flies around the pond full of water lilies🪷
We then spent a few hours just wandering through the different gardens and of course I visited the bench and stopped for a while thinking of Molly. 💭💕

Would you like to cuddle a chick?
Our newest little guest is desperate to!
Mavis and Mildred, our two free range hens who have been very busy lately!
They were hatched somewhere in the undergrowth and appeared from nowhere last year with their brothers and their Mum,a tiny but plucky bantum.
Jet black and identical,
they roost high up in our pine trees at night and follow our 2 cockerels everywhere for protection.🦅🌲🐓
Black is the best colour as predatory hawks think they are crows and stay far away from them! ( they hate crows😊)
Anyway they have been very busy laying lots of eggs and both decided to sit on them together! 🪺
So this week the eggs started hatching, all crammed into a tiny hen house that is really only big enough for 1 broody hen!🐔
The Mums are really protective and a bit vicious which was tricky when moving them, but we now have 8 newborn chicks in a very busy but bigger house!🛖
🐣🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐣
