Some of our guests come once. Others find a place that feels like a home from home. 💛
Last week I had a message from
Zoe, one of our regular guests who escapes to The Old Milking Parlour at Flying Piglets for a much-needed rest and reset from her busy life.
She text me “Can I come?”
And of course I said yes!
She comes by herself and drives the 3 hours from her home in Manchester every few months. she prepares the meals for her family with special needs, does her shift as a ward sister in a busy hospital before she leaves.🚗
She arrives, unpacks the car, makes a cup of tea to go with the home made tiffin in her welcome basket, curls up on the sofa under a blanket and rests.
The first time she came, I must admit that I was a little worried about her but she explained at the end of her visit that she just needed time,space and peace to recharge. 🌱
Sometimes she wanders down the lane to listen to the birds but often the views from the bedroom and the “amazing bed”(as she says) are enough to provide her with the rest she needs.🐦‍⬛
It feels really special knowing that The Old Milking Parlour has become her trusted sanctuary—a place where she can leave the noise behind and find calm whenever life feels overwhelming. ☺️
We always have a hug and a chat at the end of her stays and even a “Hello Rachael” on the phone from her husband this time as we feel like we know each other too now!💕
✨Zoe came as a visitor and left as a friend as we find lots of our guests do✨

We’ve been to Newton House part of the Dinefwr estate, many times before. But we have never visited the deer park, as it is the only place on the estate that is ‘no dogs allowed ‘☹️
Bonnie had spent the morning tearing around the field and swimming in the river so she was happy to stay at home and sleep.🐾
After an interesting visit to the house with a quick try on of some period costumes for our son, a wander round the second hand book shop and a compulsory visit to the cafe for tea and cake,We finally set off into the deer park. 🏰🍰
Wow, what an amazing place it is, with beautiful ancient woodland, a meandering board walk, and teeming with wildlife all around us. 🌱🪾🐦‍⬛🐿️🦌
There are trails mown through the grasses and bracken, and benches a plenty to sit, reflect or just watch and listen to the birds.
We will be definitely returning again with a picnic next time, sorry Bonnie!!🐾

What a fantastic day spent at Llandovery Carnival and Tractor Run🚜☀️

It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the sunshine and coming together for such a great local event. The atmosphere around town was really special.

We loved watching all the tractors roll down past Flying Pig Lets before they headed into the town.
Of course, no sunny day would be complete without a visit to Judy’s Ice Cream Parlour for a delicious ice cream 🍦😊
There was even a Perky Pig ice cream for Albert theArmchair Pig!🐷

Days like these are what make living in Llandovery so special 💛

Welcome to The Old Milking Parlour at Flying Piglets just 3 miles outside the historic market town of Llandovery.
This is a peaceful place to slow down, switch off, and spend time surrounded by animals and nature.

Our gentle yet nosy angora goats always there at the fence to greet new arrivals. 🐐🐐🐐🐐
Our friendly pigs who will grunt from their pen until someone comes to say hello or throw them an apple. 🐷🐷🐷
Our hens free range around the place, often with chicks in tow, with our 2 naughty ducks who follow me literally everywhere even into the kitchen, when they think they can get away with it. 🐓🦆🦆
Our 2 orphaned lambs, who wouldn’t return to the farm after we had bottle fed them last year.
🐑🐑
And not to be forgotten our bonkers Cocker Spaniel Bonnie and her long suffering friends Blue and Belle always pleased to see everyone!🐾🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛
They are all part of everyday life here and keep us and our guests, entertained.
Wake to birdsong, wander the fields, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the simple joy of being close to animals and wildlife in the beautiful Welsh countryside.🌱

☀️The sun is shining again and the birds are singing here at Flying Piglet.☀️
Our wonderful guests this week are on a working holiday and have been coming to us since we first started.
Over the years they’ve helped us so much with painting, stream clearing, and gardening, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they do ❤️
They tell us they love coming here for the peace and tranquillity, away from busy lives in Birmingham and Oxford.
Working outdoors gives them a real digital detox and a chance to reconnect with nature before heading home refreshed and ready to carry on!🌱😌
Over the past 5 years, we have slowly been adding a fresh new coat of white paint to all the walls. Finally we are tackling the last and rather daunting gable end of the farmhouse and l am just so glad I’m not up that ladder!🪜
