Days Out… Henrhyd Falls & a little bit of Hollywood magic 😲

We’ve welcomed a handful of American guests to the B&B this year, and there’s one local attraction that so many of them already seem to know about… Henrhyd Falls.

We couldn’t understand why at first… until we remembered the rather impressive Hollywood connection 🎬

Henrhyd Falls is the famous location used as the secret entrance to the Batcave in the 2012 Batman blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

Tucked away in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, the waterfall itself is well worth the visit — a spectacular 90-foot cascade surrounded by woodland and some wonderfully dramatic Welsh scenery.

And for Batman fans, there’s the added thrill of standing in the very spot where Bruce Wayne enters the Batcave!

So whether you’re visiting Wales for the scenery, the walking, the waterfalls… or you’re secretly a superhero fan, Henrhyd Falls is definitely one to add to your list of days out.

Back to exploring the beautiful countryside of Wales….

It won’t be long now until the children are back at school… and that can only mean one thing — it’s time to get out and enjoy yourselves again.

After a busy summer of family days out, holidays abroad and keeping everyone entertained (especially the younger ones) September is the perfect time to slow things down and rediscover the places you love.

Whether it’s a leisurely weekend away, a catch-up with family, a day out somewhere special or simply enjoying a little more freedom, we’ll be ready to welcome you to the New White Lion.

A few weeks ago, we went on the Penderyn Whisky Tour and afterwards thought, “Maybe we need to expand the whisky selection in our Honesty Bar!” 🥃

Well… the delivery arrived today, and we’ve definitely expanded it!

We now have Penderyn Madeira Cask, Celt and Sherrywood, plus two from their Icons of Wales range — Copperopolis No.12 and Bad Wolf No.13.

And don’t forget, when you stay with us here at the New White Lion, you can also ask us for a complimentary tour voucher for the Penderyn Distillery.

It’s a great experience, and it gets even better at the end — you’ll receive two complimentary drams, with the chance to choose whichever takes your fancy from the Penderyn range.

A big thank you to Kate and Stuart from Somerset, who spent a couple of days with us celebrating Stu’s birthday.

After giving them a few tips and recommendations for things to see and do, Llyn y Fan Fach was their walk of choice and by all accounts, they had a fantastic time!

It’s always lovely to hear that our guests have enjoyed exploring the area and making the most of their stay. 🥾🏔️

Another cracking place to eat if you’re ever staying with us or passing through Llandovery - The Bear Llandovery

Great food, from Asian-inspired vegetarian dishes to what are probably the best burgers in town. And if you fancy something different, definitely give their Burger of the Week a try, this week is the Louisiana Buffalo 👌

The food is always spot on, and you’re guaranteed to be well looked after by a brilliant team.

Definitely one to put on your list when visiting Llandovery! 👍🏼

Our brand new website is now LIVE! 🤗

It’s been a labour of love over the last couple of months, and we’re so excited to finally share it with you all.

It’s a huge upgrade from the website we inherited 4 years ago. It served us well, but after attending a number of business and social media courses, we knew it was time to modernise and create something that truly reflects who we are today.

We’ve been treated to some fantastic weather this year, and it’s set to continue over the next few weeks – making it the perfect time to visit the New White Lion, Llandovery.

When staying with us in Llandovery, we’re incredibly lucky that such a small market town offers so many fantastic places to eat and drink.

Last Friday, we popped into The Whitehall Llandovery for lunch, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There’s always a decent pint on offer (my go to is the Moho) and we couldn’t resist trying the Hugo Spritz while it was on special. The food is great value, and it’s even better knowing that many of the ingredients are locally sourced.

It’s another great reason to spend some time exploring everything Llandovery has to offer. So, next time you’re in town, be sure to call into The Whitehall and see for yourself. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

We’ve been lucky enough to receive some complimentary tour vouchers for Penderyn Distillery, so our guests can enjoy a fantastic afternoon discovering Wales’ award-winning whisky.

Each tour includes two drams of your choice, making it a great way to experience this wonderful Welsh whisky.

Suffice to say, I drove there… and Karen drove back! 🤭
