A perfect place for a relaxing break at any time of year, both Fforest Fields holiday cottage have excellent walking, mountain biking, horse riding and paragliding just outside their doors and many other activities within easy reach. The four beautiful yurts, set quietly apart from the main campsite, are hugely popular! Children have lots to do here with woods and fields to explore. Grown ups can

do as much or as little as they want, settle down on the lawn with a book or take a stroll around the forest, its up to you. Sleeping is always easy and restful as peace and quiet is guaranteed in this remote family holiday home. Dogs and Wellington boots are most welcome and we have created a room with muddy ones in mind. When the weather is cooler there is a log fire, fluffy towels and oodles of hot water for baths. A break in our cottages will be a real home from home with modern appliances, beautiful furnishings and most importantly very comfortable beds

Just a final few before we step back and welcome the new visitors!
Thank you again Bloomorium I filled two vases with your beautiful, autumn in a bunch, flowers!
The slow cooker is a new addition, I love using mine and the welcoming smell of a hearty meal when you've been out exploring just makes me think of long winter evenings snuggled in front of a roaring log fire!

It's been a busy month at the cottage, outside work being done. The 'Apple Store' on the side has been taken down and Steve, Tony, George with able assistance from Matt, Sam and Will have built a smart new wall and made a parking space for two cars along side the cottage, so there is no need to park by the back door! More to do but we are welcoming guests back tomorrow so it can wait until the new year.

I was picking apples this morning, our trees are groaning with them and thinking that the summer holidays are soon at an end. The cottage is available all year though and although we are fully booked through September and October, we have dates still in November and December.

I have availability the week before the Royal Welsh, the week before the children break up for the summer holidays! Come and have some peaceful down time at Ffynnonau. There is wonderful walking direct from the cottage, over the farm, up the hill, you can swim in the lake, it's only a short walk to the campsite. Our present guests have just walked up Pen-y-Fan to watch the sunrise! R&R guaranteed! Saturday, 15th of July for seven nights.

This beautiful thrush has led some guests to believe they are hearing a nightingale, sadly not. This is the first time, in three years, that I have managed to capture it on camera though.

Last thing at night and first thing in the morning, you can't miss the song it is very beautiful and so clear. Next job is to record that! (In fact I can hear it right now!)

They nest somewhere in the thicket above the woodshed.

My favourite light, that time when the sun appears under the clouds, just before it sets! The bird in the photo below is a raven, sitting on a high tree directly above the cottage. We've had a pair nesting on the farm for as long as I can remember, one has a particular call, which makes it quite distinctive. I promise you will see ravens and kites, both are residents of Fforest Farm, along with red starts, cuckoos, woodpeckers, willow warblers, thrushes gold finches, buzzards, geese! Don't forget your binoculars!

Away from it all? Peace and quiet up a half mile drive from the road? Short walk to Fforest Fields campsite? Beautiful, old cottage? Log fires? 'Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in? Dawn chorus? Walks directly from the back door? Part of the feel-good Fforest vibe? Family staying at Fforest Fields? Cuckoo? Owls hooting?
