Standing in over 200 acres of its own parkland two miles south of Llandudno with spectacular views of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle. Believed to have 13th century origins, Bodysgallen Hall provides all that is best in country house hospitality. Beautiful gardens include a rare 17th century parterre of box hedges filled with sweet-scented herbs, a rockery with a cascade, a walled rose garden, and seve

ral follies. Historic House Hotels Limited has skilfully and sympathetically restored the 17th century house. The hotel has two restaurants, with imaginative food, which has been awarded three rosettes by the AA for fine-dining in the Main Hall, and is prepared from fresh local produce and complemented by fine wine. 1620, Bodysgallen Hall's new Bistro opened at the end of 2008, and offers simpler good value food in a contemporary setting. In September 2008 this company donated all its interests in BODYSGALLEN HALL and the other two HISTORIC HOUSE HOTELS to THE NATIONAL TRUST, with all profits benefiting the houses and the charity. There are 15 extremely comfortable bedrooms in the Main Hall including the principal suites, the Mostyn Suite, the Lady Augusta Suite, the Conwy Suite, and the Vaughan Suite. Each bedroom has been individually decorated. There are 16 cottage suites, with picturesque names like Pineapple Lodge, Castle View and Gingerbread House and are situated in the grounds, for guests preferring a greater degree of privacy. Bodysgallen Hall's Health and Fitness Spa, approached by a short walk through the garden, has been converted from the original stone built farm. It contains a 50 ft swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna, relaxation room, a clubroom, together with five beauty treatment rooms.

On this day in 1830, Lady Augusta Mostyn was born. A woman of remarkable vision, artistic passion, and philanthropic spirit. Drawing inspiration from the architecture of her East Sussex upbringing, she oversaw the thoughtful restoration of Bodysgallen Hall in the late 19th century.

From nearby Gloddaeth Hall, (now St David's College) she reimagined Bodysgallen as a grand yet comfortable country house for her younger son and his wife.

Lady Augusta’s influence endures not only at Bodysgallen but throughout Llandudno, supporting the establishment of Marine Drive around the Great Orme, influencing the planning of Mostyn Street, and contributing to the town’s rise as the “Queen of Welsh Resorts.”

Her cultural impact lives on through the Mostyn Gallery, founded in 1902 to support local women artists, it provided a dedicated space for the Gwynedd Ladies Art Society, creating one of Wales’s first venues for female art exhibitions.

When she died in 1912, an obituary remembered her as the ‘Lady Bountiful of Gloddaeth; blessed is the country which produces such a woman.’

Since opening to guests in 1981, Bodysgallen has preserved its heritage while offering modern comforts. In 2008, Bodysgallen Hall & Spa, along with companion hotels Hartwell House & Spa and Middlethorpe Hall & Spa, were gifted to the National Trust, securing their futures and public access for hotel guests.

This is a use for Bodysgallen Hall, that in the changed times of the 21st century, Lady Augusta Mostyn would probably approve.
