Today is the feast day of St Tudno, the patron Saint of Llandudno.

This is an 1857 drawing of St Tudno’s Church and churchyard on Great Orme. The Church gives its name to the town below, Llandudno - “the Parish of Tudno”.

Within the churchyard many former Llandudno miners are buried, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, their professions and roles at the mines etched upon their headstones.

At the time of the creation of this image, copper mining was still taking place at Old Mine and New Mine, overlapping with Llandudno establishing itself as a seaside resort.

Llandudno has been rated 2nd in a Which? poll for Best Seaside town in the UK.

Its sweeping bay, stunning pier, affordable accommodation, great places to eat and range of tourist attractions makes Llandudno a special place to visit, including one of its popular draws, the Great Orme, which boasts spectacular views.

Conwy also made it to the top ten with highlights that include the World Heritage Castle and town walls, and the lively quay.
