After 16 years, it feels very strange to finally write this…
We have sold The Barn, Sunbank, subject to contract, and on 31st October 2026, we will be closing our doors. ❤️
The Cowshed will close for good, but the yurts will reopen at some point in the future with the new owners, so this isn’t quite goodbye to Sunbank completely.
Sixteen years ago we came here and took on an old barn, with a slightly crazy idea that we could somehow turn it into a home (thanks for that James!🕯️) And over the years, that barn became so much more than that.….
It became our long term project, our family home, our business, our happy (sometimes sad) place and the backdrop to 16 years of our lives….
There have been incredibly hard days, moments when we wondered what on earth we were doing, and plenty of blood, sweat and tears.
But there has also been so much joy.
There have been babies growing into teenagers, family and friends around the table, the BEST Christmas’s, BBQs, baking galore, bonfires, birthday parties and sleepovers, muddy dogs, much-loved pets 🐶🐴, chickens, visitors coming and going, fires burning, beautiful views, hard work, laughter, tears (oh those awkward double bookings 🥴) and more memories than we could ever fit into one post. ❤️ An open House 💖
And then there’s Sunbank Accommodation.
What started as a little tiny business grew alongside our family and became such a huge part of our lives. For 14 years we’ve opened our doors and welcomed people from all over the place into this little corner of Llangollen.
We’ve watched people arrive as strangers and leave as friends. We’ve watched relationships grow, families grow and children grow….
We’ve welcomed steampunks, faery folk, honeymooners, walkers, adventurers, families, couples, dog lovers and people simply looking for somewhere peaceful to escape to…..
And over those 14 years, many of you have gone from being customers to familiar faces, and some have become genuine friends.🫂 I’ll hopefully see you for a coffee in town one day 🙂 x
That’s what makes this so hard.
Because this has never just been a business to us. It has been our home, our livelihood and something we built from the ground up. It has been such a huge part of our family’s life. So yes, we are excited. Excited for a new chapter. Excited for a change. But if I’m honest, there is a huge lump in my throat writing this. Leaving somewhere that has been your home for 16 years is a very strange thing indeed.
We’ll be here until the end, making the most of our final couple of months before Sunbank officially closes on 31st October.
And before we go, there are some very special people I need to thank. My mum, who has done an absolutely ridiculous amount of laundry & cleaning over the years 😂 & has been there through so much of this journey, helping me in more ways than I could ever put into a Facebook post. ❤️and my Dad for helping in other ways 🫶
And all the people who have helped us along the way, my family, our lovely friends, tradespeople, Ben Ben Black Woodcraft 🫶, our wonderful Neighbours and everyone who has mucked in, given advice, lent a hand, listened to ME MOAN, helped us through the difficult bits or simply been there when we needed them. SOLM Property for helping us sell when we decided to move on. 🙏
You know who you are.
We could never have done all of this on our own.
And then, of course, there is every single one of you who has stayed with us, returned to us, recommended us, left us a review, shared our posts, followed our journey or simply supported us over the years…

Although this is the end of Sunbank Accommodation as you know it, it definitely isn’t the end of us.
There are already ideas bubbling away for whatever comes next… 👀
We’re not quite ready to tell you everything yet, but we’d love you to stick around and come along for the next adventure.
