🤗 Meet the Team 🤗

This week we’re moving on to the first of our lovely Lauren(s)! 😁

A little bit about you:
I am from 'gods own country' hense my strong yorkshire accent you all like to point out :)
Me and my partner sold our house and decided to do our own van build as we craved a more outdoorsy life in nature with more time for adventures with our dogs, trying new food, seeing more sights and learning there is more to life than money/work/house/car.
It took a year and alot of youtube but we did it! We went around Scotland, all of England and then decided to travelled around Europe for a year and a bit!
We then decided to give wardening a go and got the job here and started in April and so far so good we love it here and decided to stay for longer!

What do you love most about living in this area?
I feel like this area is a hidden gem, not many people come here they just pass through! But there is stunning walks and cute towns and lots of wildlife plus I found my first chanterelle mushrooms foraging near site 🍄‍🟫

What do you like to do on your days off?
Walking, baking different types of bread or pizzas in my ooni oven. Chilling out having a nice red wine and good food, chatting and listening to music.

Guilty pleasure?
Either baking sweet treats or buying custard doughnuts from the co op and just eating them all in one night binge watching a series or film, the diet starts tomorrow...

Most listened to song lately?
Crazy on you - The Hearts or Yes and? - Ariana Grande

Pro:
Love a good chat, will always help you eat that last slice of pizza or cake. Can always provide a laugh when it comes to clumsiness or bad spelling mistakes or pronouncing a town or exotic foods.

Con:
Can come across abit blunt and also have an extremely dry sense of humour/ultra sarcasm.

Dogs have been welcome in the garden during the winter months for some time. Now, for a trial period from Saturday 6 June to 31 October 2026, we’re extending this welcome into the summer season. We will be reviewing feedback from visitors, staff and volunteers throughout.

All we ask if that you use a short, non-extendable lead, stick to paths on the dog-friendly route, and clean up after your pet. Waste bins and water bowls are available.

Dogs are welcome on paths in most outdoor areas, but won’t be able to access the Great Lawn, the East Front, the Italianate Terraces or the privately owned wider estate. Indoor access is limited to the Ticket Office and Second-Hand Bookshop.

🤗 Meet the Team 🤗

This week is all about Tom, the second half to our managing couple! ☺️

A bit about you:
Originally from Darlington, I grew up working in pubs from the age of 15 which helped massively with my confidence through my teenage years. Moving to Cardiff I accidentally ended up in sales for a number of years, which I thoroughly enjoyed - seeing my commission figure at the end of the month always made me happy. Finally giving up on city life and the pressure of sales, I fled to the Cairngorms to live in a caravan, then via Northumberland and finally settled at Red Kite.

When did you start working at Red Kite?
Ask Chantelle - I can't even remember what day of the week we're on.

What do you love most about living in this area?
It's almost a still undiscovered area, lots of people flock to North or South Wales but forget there's a whole middle bit to explore! So it's still very quiet with lots of 'hidden gems'.

Also the roads are probably in better condition than most other areas of the UK and there's no traffic! (Except for those silly white boxes people like to tow 😂)

What do you like to do on your days off?
We're usually out exploring, walking or in our own campervan somewhere. Regular haunts include garden centres, bakeries and outdoors shops. I always seem to need something from Charlies/Coed-y-Dinas though, if you haven't been I'll give you directions.

Guilty pleasure?
Bardcore, collecting rocks, lego.

Most listened to song lately?
Irish Eyes - Rose Betts

Pro:
Unqualified/untrained/uneducated caravan engineer (no warranties supplied or given).

Con:
Probably too many.
1. Top procrastinator, ask me again tomorrow.
2. If I'm blunt it's because I'm from the North East, it comes naturally, it's how we show affection.
3. I won't throw anything away, bit of "this'll come in handy" hoarder. Usually caravan parts or bits of awnings, gardening supplies and tools. If you need it I'll have it, I just don't know where it is.

🤨 What’s your perfect pitch? 🤨

A highly subjective matter! Do you like a quiet corner, or a more sociable spot? Garden space or view?

🌡️ Tuesday Temps 🌡️

We’re due to once again exceed 30°c today here in sunny mid-Wales 🥵

As always when we’re faced with these heatwaves, we’d like to put out a couple friendly reminders:
- Drink plenty of water, whatever you think is enough, double it! 💦
- Never leave any pets unattended in your caravan/motorhome, temperatures can quickly soar 🌡
- Suncream is always recommended, and then a bit of aftersun never hurts in the evening 🧴
- If walking with pooches, keep your walks to morning/evening, and always test the ground you want them to walk on with your hand - if it’s too hot for you, it’s going to be too hot for them 🐾

Lastly, be kind, be patient, and stay safe! ☺️

🤗 Meet the Team 🤗

Next up on our weekly meet the team is Chantelle, one half of our managing couple! 😊

A bit about you:
I’m originally from the south coast of England, but have lived in Wales overall for a third of my life now 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Working on a campsite was never on my life plan, I have a degree in Social Science and was planning a career in Children’s Social Work! What started as a “let’s see what happens” has progressed to where I am now, and I can honestly say I can’t picture myself doing anything else 😊

When did you start working at Red Kite?
July 2021

What do you love most about living in this area?
The quietness, I don’t think I could ever go back to back to city life!

What do you like to do on your days off?
Equally torn between a good walk, and a relaxing chill day in 😌

Guilty pleasure?
Playing Pokémon 🤓

Most listened to song lately?
Kate Couriel - Draw Me a Person

Pro: I genuinely love getting to know people, and smile about 90% of the time!

Con: likely to forget what I’m saying or supposed to be doing if I see a dog…

☀️ Saturday Sun ☀️

Who’s enjoying this sunshine then?! Bit different to the usual inevitable rain that the UK usually gets on a Bank Holiday, but we’re certainly not complaining 😁

We’re absolutely loving seeing the site full, and everyone sat out enjoying this glorious weather! 🥰
