Hi, we’ve maintained radio silence for one reason or another for the best part of 2025! But we’re back in the game now and with a bang!! Had to show you all our little ‘mensh’ in The Telegraph - I’m beyond delighted to have my little ‘cottage’ business recognised like this alongside Llantwit beach 😀

I’m so happy that this little six year old business has received another award. We’ve worked so hard to make a success of Great House and now the hard work is being rewarded. Thank you to all our friends and guests, past, present and future. Xx

A quick update !

My lovely friend, totally outraged on my behalf that my little business was STILL closed, contacted Wales Online who in turn contacted me for details. On Saturday afternoon a photographer arrived, took some pics, asked some questions and said B.C would be contacted and given the right to reply!
Monday around 1 pm, my phone rings and it’s a young guy from “the local booking.com office”
in BRISTOL!!!! ( who knew there was a local office??) he apologised for any inconvenience - seriously, inconvenience!! And he was pleased to be able to tell me all invoices had now been matched and cleared, he actually said they had ‘found’ my payments and I could now go ahead and open great House on the booking.com platform. I was delighted and furious at the same time - it’s lucky I was in Tesco and couldn’t give way to my emotion.

I’m getting a bit of a David and Goliath vibe, I’m in no way comparing my experience with the Post office scandal - but it is another tiny little business scaring the big bad dismissive multi national into action.

It took 4 hours from the Wales Online call to resolving the issue. I have been closed on booking.com and calling them for help almost every other day for 6 weeks and 3 days!

BOOKING.COM

Sadly and infuriatingly, my little business here at Great House is entangled with the booking.com financial debacle!! Without going into too much detail, they have a new financial system which doesn’t connect with the old financial system so I and literally thousands of businesses worldwide are shown to be in arrears! WE ARE NOT! All my invoices are paid and up to date but because the new system is not recognising the old system, my business has been suspended for the second time in 3 months! I have repeatedly sent in ‘proof of payments’ and was allowed to open in November, my business is showing as ‘closed not bookable’ since 22/12 for the same invoices that they have already cleared previously!!!!! I’m in touch with a nice man in France who has a Chateau and is owed €67k by booking.com so I suppose I’m doing better than some!!

If you are looking for accommodation please call me direct on 07821386113 and if you’re looking to book elsewhere and the property is showing as closed, call them and book directly with the owner, they may be in the same ridiculous position that I am, it’s usually a little cheaper to do that anyway. Please share if you can, it’s a difficult time of year for most businesses and mine is no exception
