Is is too early to talk about 🎄🎅DECEMBER HOUSE PARTY WEEKENDS at Rhumhor House??!! 🙈 🎄🎅

We ❤️ Christmas at Rhumhor and this year will be no exception as we gear up to decorate the house so it’s ready by late November.

The Christmas and New Year weeks are already booked for this year ( and next!) but we have three weekends in the run up to the big day still free.

If you fancy a pre Christmas getaway with friends and family then the weekends of the
4th - 7th Dec (3 nights)
11th - 14th Dec (3 nights)
18th-20th Dec (2 nights)

are still free and the house will be fully decorated by then!

We are offering these weekends now for the inclusive price of £1425 (£1050 for 2 night break 18-20th) including FREE use of the hot tub & FREE Christmas hamper! We can now even accommodate a 10th guest with the addition of an extra bed to the twin room!

That’s around £50 *per person per night - a bargain to relax and chill with friends and family before the big day. Please contact us direct if you are interested! ( *price per night quoted on basis that the house is fully occupied if less than full occupancy staying the price per night would naturally be higher). Ho Ho Ho !

We love staying ourselves at Rhumhor as it’s a great time to try out new things and also see the house through the eyes of a guest to ensure it’s delivering the great experience we want for all our visitors.

Talking of great experiences we were delighted this time to be able to enjoy the use of the horsebox sauna from Mare Heat Sauna just down the road from us in Dunoon! What a great concept! The friendly team dropped it off in position so we could take in the view whilst we enjoyed the sauna.

It’s literally as easy as 1,2,3 to get the sauna ready for us.

1 - scan the QR code on the side of the box to view the instruction video

2- light the fire starter log and load the stove

3 - sit back and enjoy the benefits of a sauna in around 40 mins!

We had the best time and after a spot of wild swimming in the loch it was the perfect “after swim” experience!

Available to hire from www.mareheat.co.uk we can see this being very popular with our guests as an additional experience. With the ability to book from a day or two to a full week the packages are flexible too! Contact with the friendly team was so easy that it was a great experience from start to finish.

Thanks guys!

We were delighted to pop along today for the first official day of trading at the Carrick Farm Shop and Cafe. Wow! We think this is going to be a tremendous success for Hannah and Darius and such a brilliant amenity for Carrick Castle locals and visitors to have in the village.

The cakes were out of this world as were the drinks and we are looking forward to our duck eggs for breakfast tomorrow! Located along next to the castle we just know this is going to be a very popular haunt for our guests.

Good luck guys!!

We just love this photo of Rocky the Westie , one of our recent guests, enjoying the view from the Contemplation Shelter just up the road from Rhumhor in the community forest.

We agree Rocky, it’s a peach of a view!

We are delighted to finally be able to share a video showcasing all the work that’s been getting down at Rhumhor over the last few months to upgrade our downstairs halls and public rooms.

We were lucky to be working again with the hugely talented Neil McKinlay (www.neilmckinlay.com) and his sons Caleb and Taylor who have painstakingly installed wood panelling in our hall and beautiful herringbone style oak wood flooring in our family room, drawing room and dining room.

Their pièce de résistance was however the new hardwood front door installed in place of a reproduction copy that had seen better days. The hall is now flooded with natural light and to be able to see the wonderful view out from the front of the house through the door is amazing!

Neil made the door from scratch and installed above it a wonderful piece of stained glass ( an image of the loch from the front of the house) that the equally talented Tessa Mackenzie ( www.tessamackenzie.com) from Glasgow made for us.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with finished new front door, hall and flooring. It’s all part of our vision to continue to upgrade the interiors of Rhumhor whilst respecting and preserving the Victorian heritage of the building.

Thanks also to our housekeeper Sam at Kozy Cottages for her hard work in helping put the property back together after each bit of the work, Geoff our unflappable handyman who also helped with getting the old lady ready for guests after works and to Alaisdair Mirlees and co for their usual high standard of electrical works.

Now for a rest to enjoy the new look space!
