Shore Caravan Site

Shore Caravan Site We are a family run campsite in the North West Highlands, surrounded by some of the best scenery & beside the best beach in Scotland.

Open 4 April - 30 Sept 2025. Working Croft - Sorry No Dogs Allowed We are a family run Caravan and Camping Site in the North West Highlands of Scotland. Opening dates 2022 1 April - 23 October (hopefully)

The site was started by Donald Munro back in the 1950's and used to be located behind the beach on the Machair before it was moved into it's current location in the 1970's. We are located 4 mile

s from the small village of Lochinver, which has a couple of shops, some outstanding restaurants and a couple of pubs. In the surrounding area you can fish, climb mountains or hill walk. The beach beside the campsite was voted The Best Beach In Scotland by Landward in 2016. If you enjoy watersports it is a safe place to partake, though you have to provide your own equipment. There is a recently established snorkel trail that includes Achmelvich Bay. We accept caravans, motorhomes and tents. Facilities include toilets, showers, electric hook-up, elsan disposal and a laundrette. We have no set pitches so you get to pick your spot. To book a pitch please click the "send email" tab on the main page. We also have 3 static caravans to rent that overlook Achmelvich Beach. These however, are fully booked for the 2022 season. We also have a small on-site shop that sells bread, milk, ice creams and juice amongst other things and a chip shop that serves locally (Ullapool) caught fish, the local butchers black, white and haggis puddings as well other favourites. We are a croft site and therefore do not allow dogs.

That time of year again folks!
The booking calendar for the 2026 season will be opening this Saturday the 20th of December.
There will be a few changes for next season - a 6th hook up is being installed, so that gives us 24 in total, and (finally!) the drive over grey water disposal area will be created before we open.
One change that thankfully has been delayed is the visitor levy. The Highland Council has paused the introduction of it, which was due to start on the 23rd of July or thereabouts, in order to review and change their planned introduction. It will likely be 2027 before it is implemented but we don't know anything for sure, so please bare in mind that it may yet come into force this season, after or around their original date.
Hope you all have a great festive season and see you all in 2026 :)

Happy to announce that our electric problems are (mostly) over!
Chippy will be open for the season Sunday 20th of April at 5pm, last orders 7.45pm (she has no fish though as she cancelled her order after Wednesdays disaster! Meter installed, electrician got everything connected, turned it all on, everything trips 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️)
And the site shop opens at 12pm, 11am for the remainder of the month, closing at 8pm everyday. The shop hours will be extended in May.
Thank you to everyone for your patience :)

Following on from my update last week, my energy company has massively let us down and has changed our meter install date from the 8th of April to the 16th of April! 🤬So, unfortunately, this means we will have continue to only have one working hook up, plus no chippy, shop, or launderette until the 17th of April - assuming they don't let us down again!
Really sorry to everyone to was hoping for some fish & chips over the Easter break.

Unfortunately, due to delays with work to the toilet block we are unable to open the site tomorrow (1st April) as planned. We will be opening on 4th April instead.
It will only be the site (and toilet block) that is open on the 4th, the shop and chip shop will be opening the following week - hopefully the 9th of April - as we are waiting on a new meter being installed on our new electric connection. This also means we only have 1 working hook up point, so anyone wondering why they are unable to book electric for the first couple of weeks of April this is why.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes anyone, we are bitterly disappointed to be delaying opening, especially of the chip shop.

My yearly post :)

I hope winter has been treating everyone kinder than it has us... wind and rain on repeat, really not fun!

There's been a lot going on personally that has created the delay in the calendar being open for bookings for 2025 but, with just a couple of things left to be edited it should open on Saturday the 21st of December.

We have a few big jobs happening over winter regarding the toilet block and the shop, which I can't wait for everyone to see! We have also applied for a new electricity connection to be installed, once it is we will be able to upgrade all the electric points (and install more in the future) however we do not yet know when this will be installed, maybe before we open, maybe while we are open, maybe next winter!! As soon as we find out we will update you all and email anyone that it might affect (if we have to close for a few days for example, hopefully not though!)

We are also going to have the site closed to bookings for the weekend 13/14/15 of June (will explain why at a later date).

Hope you all have a wonderful festive period and looking forward to seeing everyone in 2025
