Welcome back everyone!

June in London is pretty much as good as it gets. It’s hot but not too hot. Festival season is in full swing, perfect for picnicking, exploring parks, or partying all day long.

Here are the best things to do in London in June:

World Cup 2026 - June 11th until July 19th

A World Cup summer is right around the corner.

This year, 16 stadiums across Canada, Mexico and the United States will host this epic tournament, which plays out from Thursday June 11 - Sunday July 19 2026.

Best World Cup outdoor screenings:

1. Flat Iron Square - Southwark

Flat Iron Square is a hub for drinking, dining and dancing in the shadow of The Shard. The outdoor space is host to a flea market at weekends and various events throughout the year.

2. The Garden Vauxall - Vauxall

The Garden will show every single World Cup match, not just the England ones, on one of its three massive LED screens. Two huge bars mean there’ll be plenty of beer to go round, for celebrations or commiserations.

Showing: Every single game.

How to book: General entry (free drink included) starts at £10 for England matches and £6 for non-England matches. Reserved table seating starts from £7.50 per person (minimum group of six).

3. Queen of Hoxton - Shoreditch

This lively two-floor Shoreditch mega pub is taking group bookings for its screenings of World Cup games in its ground floor bar. There'll be beers, Bajan food, and cocktails on offer, plus air conditioning if things get the wrong kind of heated.

Showing: Every match, but only the England games are ticketed.

How to book: Tickets start from £10 per person (includes free drink). Tickets don’t guarantee a table – they’re first come, first served.

Red Bull Soapbox Race - Alexandra Palace/ 20th June

Alexandra Palace will erupt in mayhem in June as dozens of DIY taboggans dart down the hill for the downright absurd Red Bull Soapbox Race. The annual race challenges adrenaline junkies to create the whackiest vehicle they can, then ride it down the track powered only by gravity. Along the way, they’ll encounter obstacles like The Water Roller, The Wedge, The Bone Rattler and The Kicker – it’s very rare that cars make it to the bottom of the course unscathed. Best stick to watching safely from the sidelines!

West End Live - Trafalgar Square/ 20th and 21st June

West End Live is the two day outdoor festival that turns some of the most expensive forms of entertainment in London into the cheapest fun going. Each year, casts of some of London's best West End musicals emerge blinking into the open-air for a weekend of free alfresco performances in Trafalgar Square, accompanied by fun photo ops, merch stalls, and bags of showbiz atmosphere. Expect pretty much every musical in London to be represented in the two-day event, with members of the casts performing a song or two from their show in the allocated timeslots.

And there you are. Lots of things to do in June! Also the famous Wimbledon Tennis Championship is just around the corner...

See you all in July

Welcome back everyone!

May truly is one of London’s finest months. Not only is the city pleasantly warm and bursting with colourful spring blooms, but everyone is excited with the possibilities of the coming Summer.

Here is my top recommendation:

RHS Chelsea Flower Show - 19th until 23rd May 2026

Across five days, hundreds of world-class growers and garden designers descend on Chelsea’s Royal Hospital Grounds to take part in the floral extravaganza that is the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

More than 400 exhibits will show off the green-fingered talent of the world’s finest landscapers and horticulturalists.

Make sure to be there!

See you all in June and remember to visit our site for information and availability.

Hi everyone!

London has an amazing energy on bank holidays and Easter weekend is particularly blessed, because it’s a rare double bank holiday, meaning we get four whole days of work-free fun from Good Friday on April 3 to Easter Monday on April 6. Here are my suggestions:

The Passion of Jesus - Trafalgar Square - 3rd April

Wintershall Players return with their huge open-air re-enactment of ‘The Passion Of Jesus’ on Good Friday, marking the day the big man is believed to have been crucified by the Romans. Two 90-minute performances will be delivered by a cast of more than 100 actors and volunteers – plus a true menagerie of horses, donkeys and doves. Huge crowds usually gather for this event, but big screens ensure you won’t miss any crucial moments.

Flowers at Kew Gardens - Recommended

London’s botany HQ should be booming with blooms in April, making it the perfect spot for an Easter weekend walk. From its Cherry Walk lined with pink-blossomed Japanese cherry trees to its primrose and crocus-filled woodland garden, there’s plenty of pretty petals to spot here.

London Marathon - 26th April

The 2026 marathon will take place on Sunday April 26, and will follow the traditional route from Greenwich Park into central London, through a much-photographed stretch that takes in Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

If you hadn’t noticed, the marathon route is loooooong. Starting in Greenwich Park in south-east London and finishing right by Buckingham Palace, there are loads of famous things to see along the way, especially when you’re a spectator. Here are some of the things to look out for:

Mile 6: Cutty Sark
Mile 12: Tower Bridge
Mile 18: Canary Wharf
Mile 22: The Tower of London
Mile 25: The London Eye
Mile 25: Big Ben
Mile 26: Buckingham Palace

And there you are! Hope you have a great Easter! See you all in May...

The Hidden Tube Tour at Clapham South leads visitors 30 metres below ground into a warren of passageways including eight underground shelters once used by Londoners seeking refuge during the Second World War. Why not stroll around some of the best parks in London? Here are my suggestions for January 2026:

Top 3 Winter walks in London

1. Hampstead Heath

The grassy sprawl of Hampstead Heath makes the perfect setting for a rural walk on a chilly day. Do a loop of the wild green space before stomping up to the dizzying heights of Parliament Hill to gaze at the city skyline, or fly a kite if the weather is breezy enough.

2. Kensington Gardens

Find some peace in the middle of the city with a wintery stroll around Kensington Gardens. There are open green spaces and woodlands to wander through, as well as plenty of pretty spots to stop at on your walk, like the Albert Memorial, the Serpentine and the Palace.

3. Waterlow Park

This 20-acre green space is one of the capital’s hidden gems. There are three ponds for wildlife-spotting, benches with views for remembering how beautiful London is and hills for sledging if it snows. It’s also right next door to atmospheric Highgate Cemetery, if you want to extend your winter wander.

Hope you manage to visit them!

See you all in February.

Here are my top recommendations of things to do while in London in December:
Go Skating at Somerset House... Aldwych until 11th January 2026

Somerset House’s annual ice rink pop-up has long been one of the city’s favourite festive traditions, with thousands of Londoners and tourists alike making it part of their celebrations each year, and for good reason. Gliding (or nervously shuffling) around the rink, gazing upon the surrounding Georgian architecture and the courtyard’s magnificent 40ft Christmas tree feels like you’ve skated onto a movie set.

See the Christmas Lights around London...

The best Christmas lights in London 2025:
1. Carnaby Christmas Lights

Dash away from the Oxford Street crowds with a detour into pretty Carnaby Street, which is known for switching it up with imaginative Christmas light displays each year. Last year’s sustainability-led installation ‘Into the Light’ was a bit controversial, with viewers reckoning that the bracingly modern cuboid shapes didn't have the wow factor of previous efforts. In typical eco-friendly fashion, the same display has been repurposed this year, but using bright neons rather than warm white lights, to bring a welcome splash of colour to the dark winter skies above central London.

2. Oxford Street Christmas Lights

Oxford Street is one of the most iconic areas for London’s Christmas lights. As is now tradition, the lights this year are made from eco-friendly materials, including LED lights and recycled plastic. Featuring over 300,000 individual lights – including 5000 twinkling stars – they shine from 4pm to midnight daily until early January.

3. Bond Street Christmas Lights

Go to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland...until 1st January 2026

Each year, Hyde Park gets transformed from pretty park to a dazzling, snow-covered, Alpine-themed, 350-acre festive funscape. One of the largest Christmas events in the UK, Winter Wonderland returns for its eighteenth year in 2025, and is expected to welcome around 2.5 million visitors over six magical weeks. As you make your way around the space, you’ll find fairground rides, a child-friendly Santa Land (including a Santa’s Grotto, where presents lie in wait) and traditional Christmas markets.

Go to SouthBank Centre Winter Market...until 26th December 2025

Every winter the Southbank Centre turns the banks of the Thames into a frosty wonderland, full of little wooden Alpine-style cabins selling gifts, warming drinks, and snacks. You’ll find huts serving up truffle burgers, duck wraps, mulled wine, Dutch pancakes, churros and many more tasty morsels to nibble on while you look through gifts, jewellery and decorations made by independent craft traders. It is FREE to enter.

And there you are!

21/10/2025

Hi Everyone! Christmas is just around the corner. Here are just some of the exciting things happening throughout November 2025 in London.

1. Fireworks and Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night is officially on November 5 every year, and, this year, that falls on a Wednesday. You’ll find some displays on the night itself, but most will be taking place on either the weekend before or after so you can really make the most of the fun. These days, fireworks displays are about more than bonfires and colourful skies – it’s now the norm for events to boast funfairs, food stalls and more.

Top tips for Bonfire Night in London
Book in advance: Some events you can just rock up to and pay on the gate; others sell out early and don’t keep tickets back for the spontaneous among us. The key to not being disappointed is being organised!
Wrap up: The unpredictable great British weather rarely ever plays ball. It’s too early to say what exactly the heavens will decide to do in early November, but you can make an educated guess that cold temperatures and wet weather could very well be on the cards. So, make sure you bring plenty of layers, including one that’s preferably waterproof, to avoid a soggy, miserable evening.
Cash up: Yes, most places take cards now, but you never know, and you definitely don’t want to be stranded in a cold field with no way of buying a hot jacket potato. So, visit a cash machine before you get to your chosen display, just in case.
Leave the sparklers at home: As much as we love those hot sticks, lots of organised bonfires won’t allow them or will only let you buy them on-site. So, save them for the garden at home.
2. London’s best firework displays at a glance
Best for extra entertainment: Alexandra Palace
Best for young families: Wimbledon Park
Best for budgeters: Coram’s Field
Best for traditionalists: Royal Gunpowder Mills
Best for last-minute bookers: Beckenham
Christmas Lights in London

London starts to fill up with Christmas light displays in early November each year, with Oxford Street's decorations leading the charge, followed by countless local displays across the city as December hits full swing.

London’s best Christmas lights at a glance:
✨ Best for the biggest display in town: Oxford Street
🔔 Best for knockout festive extravagance: Covent Garden
🎄 Best for a Christmassy evening out: Kew Gardens Light Trail
🎅 Best for fun with the kids: Neverland at Kenwood
3. Winter Skating in London

London’s best places to go ice skating this winter:
⛸️ Best for the biggest rink in town: Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park
💃 Best for ice dance parties: Somerset House, Aldwych
🏛️ Best for south London skaters: The Queen's House, Greenwich
💧 Best for river views: Battersea Power Station, Battersea
🎢 Best for glides and rides: Winter Funland, west Kensington

And there you are. Have a great November! See you all in December...

OCTOBER 2025 - ALHAMBRA HOTEL & LONDON EVENTS

Welcome back everyone!

Autumn is here but still lots going in London such as Frieze's annual London art fair ,with some of the world’s best art galleries in one place, and of course Halloween.

Frieze London 2025 - Regent's Park: 15th Oct - 19th Oct

The mother of all London art fairs, Frieze London returns to Regent's Park once again. Over five days, hundreds of the world's best contemporary art galleries all come together under one giant marquee roof, offering visitors the chance to either line up some mega purchases or just do some serious art window shopping. There is also an extensive talks and performance programme.

Best Halloween Events in London

Halloween Light Installations at Kew: 17th Oct - 2nd Nov

Following a successful debut last year, the producers of Kew Gardens’ beloved Christmas trail are bringing back their Halloween trail through the iconic botanical gardens. It’s a light trail, basically, but a souped up one: we’re promised eerie illuminated trees, ghoulish installations, fire performers and more, with a troupe of actors on hand to stoke up our horrors (in a family friendly way, of course).

There are three timeslots: Daylight sessions run during the daytime and are intended for younger audiences who want an absolute minimum of spookiness (or simply not be hoe too late); Twilight slots are between 6pm and 7.30pm and things are definitely getting a bit scarier (ie darker); finally the Moonlight slots run after 7.30pm when it should be fully dark.

Scary Classic Horror Movies, Prince Charles Cinema : 1st Oct - 5th Nov

Not to be missed with some of the best horror movies of all times.

See you all in November!

Hi everyone!

September in London may be ‘back to school’ time, but it’s also when the city comes alive.
Here are my recommendations for September:

Somerset House 25 years Celebration – 13 -14th September, Aldwych
Celebrate 25 years of Somerset House

It’s been 25 years since Somerset House transformed from a government office into a cultural powerhouse. Celebrate it’s big quarter century at this birthday weekend extravaganza, which free, open-to-all invitation for people to explore and get to know the entire building. Guests will be able to discover the lesser-known spaces including the Deadhouse and Maker Street where you can meet Somerset House’s resident creatives. There’ll also be dance, music, performance, exhibition viewings, film showings, workshops, tours, family activities, retail and more.

Not to be missed! Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Final – 27th September, Twickenham Stadium
England Women's Rugby team playing at Twickenham in 2019

Enjoy it! See you all in October.
