The longest night has fallen, the shortest day has closed. We have winter ahead but the sun will aid us from here. There’s much of others ahead of us, try and find things to eat that live and come from the land, rain or shine, and eat what grows beneath their feet. And if you do err, have a nip of .

We are still in a global world, more than when was ruined around the time of the , that plague travelled very far very quickly six hundred and seventy five years ago. Look after yourself.

It’s time to come clean, this winter we’ve gone metal. Galvanised obviously.

Happy ruminants aplently grazing and a c c e l e r a t i n g the Carbon Cycle, plants taking out CO2 and giving away sugar underground and above ground, feeding the world. Simple really. Come and count the ghost acres here.

If the Friday isn’t Good and still isn’t over, and a would be welcome, here it is. (Same cattle as in slide two of previous post.) We are putting in another monster shift of fencing and hedging this winter. Stock proof fields with wildlife corridors aplenty are what our grandchildren will expect of us.

Geordie sneaks in again on slide three. If you know where this is, you’ll get a free gift in the mail. DM your ideas!

Hope you like Mannenburg as a soundtrack, it’s very fence post kind of eternal immovable and doing its job kind of music.

May has been a blessing. April was cruel and March a misery best forgotten.

Hawthorn is a lovely blossom, so delicate and such a contrast to this most hardy tree.

There’s a full moon rising/
Let’s go out and feel the night

The harvest moon is up in the sky, the sea fret hung around all day, especially around Bamburgh Castle. It closed our harvest day. The dampness is very welcome and makes for a special feel to the night. Happy Glorious Twelfth.

No grouse were harmed in this production.

The moon is so much more impressive than this iPhone can capture, and all the more impressive for that. Get out there and bathe in its grace and favour.

Summer is here.

Never mind the heatwave! We are working to bring in the sheaves, of barley in this case, possibly for your wee dram… it’s baking hot!

And of course, on day one of harvest, we had a puncture!

**Public Safety Announcement**
Please be careful on our busy coast roads. The big machinery is out in the fields. We’ve safety tested our kit but sometimes it’s hard to test for optimistic driving on the half of other motorists. We are harvesting our crops to put food on the table. We know the roads and every year find ourselves in situations we’d rather avoid with motorists.

Nature v Nurture

Here’s a little slice of our nurture nature effort. Lots of new fence posts installed to protect and nurture nature. Nature has its own ideas though, particularly strident beasts like thistles. Today nurture won, thistle lost, whip won.

Emble

At Emble we have five luxury sea view cabins not too far from Seahouses and a holiday cottage located just an arms throw from Embleton Bay.

We have put together for you a fun range of accommodation on our farms, so you can nestle into our coastal landscape and gaze out to sea. Hoping to inspire a deeper connection to our land and food, we want to do it differently. We look forward to welcoming you on your escape to our starscape…..the darkest skies, tons of castles, seals, oysters, sand dunes, puffins, proper fresh air and, the most peace.
