For this edition of DUKES Uncovered, we look back at a royal chapter in the hotel’s history.

In August 1932, Crown Prince Michael of Romania and his mother, Queen Helen, made DUKES London their home for a month during an extended stay in the capital. From visits to London’s museums and cultural landmarks to quiet moments within St James’s, their time here reflected the enduring connection between DUKES and distinguished guests from across Europe.

Just a few years later, Michael would become King Michael I - the last King of Romania - securing his place in European royal history.

A tale of just a few of the remarkable guests who have passed through the doors of DUKES London.
