Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite is set in the peaceful West Sussex countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland, and pasture. The campsite boasts high-quality facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm, and four fully stocked fishing lakes. We are based in the beautiful and secluded setting of Barns Green village, which is perfect for just relaxing onsite at The Café by the Lake restaurant and bar overlooking the stunning scenery, or spending an afternoon at the local pub, or even relaxing at the village green. For the more active there is plenty of exploring to be done along the countless footpaths and cycleways within and around the site, or maybe a visit to the local market town of Horsham to enjoy an evening meal at one of the many top-rated restaurants. Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful Sussex towns and villages nearby. Access to the South Downs and the coast is easy, while Brighton is a 30-minute drive and London is only one hour by train. There really is something for everyone. So come on down and say hi!

The dog woods, raw and unedited.
Wind, squeals and all the good bits.

Our family Spaniel, Bertie, is a little reactive. So we know first-hand the stress that can come with walking a reactive dog, never quite knowing who or what might be around the next corner.

When we created the dog woods & meadow, we wanted somewhere where dogs could be dogs, and their owners could relax knowing they were safe and secure.

For Bertie, it means he can properly run, sniff, explore and stretch his legs without the worry of another dog appearing and causing him stress. And for us, it means we can actually relax and enjoy seeing him have the freedom to do all the things he loves.

And then there’s Ottie, who is completely obsessed with Bertie and thinks every trip to the dog woods is the best day ever.

It’s become such a lovely part of our own family life, and we feel so lucky to have somewhere like this for them!

Safe to say, the kitchen’s been ‘cooking’.

We’ve loved this summer in the kitchen, having a little play around with our home-reared meats and making the most of what’s in season to create our specials along the way.

It feels crazy to say, but now we’re starting to look towards autumn, and the chefs are busy dreaming up what might make it onto the next menu. There’s lots of tasting, tweaking and, of course, eating happening behind the scenes.

We can’t wait to share what’s next with you.

A little update to The Cafè By The Lake’s opening hours for September…

Sunday-Thursday:
9am-4pm

Friday-Saturday:
9am-9pm

Our café food menu will be served as usual, every day:

Breakfast | 9am-12pm
Lunch | 12pm-3pm

And on Fridays & Saturdays, The Snack Shack Sussex will be serving evening food from 4pm-8pm.
