Sport England’s latest This Girl Can campaign is encouraging women to start small and find realistic ways to move more. For a lot of women, the biggest barrier isn’t motivation - it’s finding an activity that feels comfortable, welcoming and accessible.

Looking for women-only swimming lessons? We offer a choice of sessions at Stepney All Saints, taught by female teachers in small, supportive groups. Whether you’re learning from scratch, returning to swimming or building confidence, check the current days, times and availability to find a class that suits you. Sessions vary in length, including a newer 30-minute Wednesday option alongside our established 45-minute lessons.

How Long Does It Take a Child to Learn to Swim?

“How long until my child can actually swim?’ It’s the question we get asked more than any other - so we gave it an honest answer on the blog.

Short version: there isn’t a fixed timeline, and if a swim school gives you a confident number, it’s worth asking where it came from. Even Swim England - the framework every one of our lessons follows, won’t put a timeframe on it, because it depends entirely on the child. What we can tell you: consistency (weekly beats fortnightly, every time) and small classes are what actually move the needle. Ours are capped at 5 children, which is why progress tends to be steady rather than occasional.”

We absolutely loved receiving this wonderful feedback from Eden’s family, who joined us from Hong Kong during their summer stay in London.

With the support of his instructor Jose, Eden made fantastic progress - from initially feeling uncomfortable with water on his face to confidently submerging himself and swimming a short distance. What a transformation! 👏

We’re opening dedicated, Girls only lessons at 6:00pm every Wednesday
All abilities are welcome, and places are limited.

Water safety isn't just a summer topic. Learning to float, recover, and get in and out of the water safely are skills that matter all year — in a pool, at a lido, or anywhere your child might unexpectedly find themselves in water.
It's one of the reasons we keep classes small: so every child gets the attention needed to build these skills properly, not just learn a stroke.
