Who says self portraits can’t be fun??

All you need for this activity is a piece of paper and some charcoal - just place the paper over your face and trace over the lines and contours of your features. It’s definitely the strangest self-portrait we’ve ever made, and we loved the process and had so much fun with it!

As always, this series is a reminder that drawing can be playful and silly and FUN! This activity is the perfect way to loosen up and make yourself focus on the process without overthinking the finished product.

This year’s theme invites artists, designers and craftspeople to question the role of the maker today. We did a bit of a deep dive through the archive of incredible Ruskin Prize shortlisted works from over the years and it got us thinking…

What IS the point of art? Should it be beautiful, functional, provocative? Should it make us look closer? Should it make us feel something??
