This week has been full of energy, exploration and meaningful learning at Beavers Lodge Playgroup.

Our children have been actively taking part in our Forest School and Physical Literacy sessions, where they explored the outdoors, challenged themselves physically, and built confidence through play. From balancing and climbing to working together and problem-solving, every moment has supported their growing independence and resilience.

Alongside this, the children also engaged in Road Safety Awareness activities, helping them understand how to stay safe in the world around them. Through simple, practical experiences, they are beginning to make sense of real-life situations in a way that is both fun and memorable.

It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to try new things. These experiences are not just activities, they are building blocks for lifelong learning.

Thank you to all our families for your continued support. It truly makes a difference to what we are able to offer the children.

At our playgroup, learning is never one-size-fits-all.

Every activity you see is thoughtfully planned, not just to follow the curriculum, but to nurture the whole child. We believe children learn best when they are free to explore, imagine, and grow in their own unique way. That is why our ethos, “Learning Through Play, in their own way,” sits at the heart of everything we do.

We are proud to be an inclusive setting where each child is seen, understood, and supported as an individual. Our practitioners carefully plan with intention, focusing on each child’s next steps, ensuring that learning is meaningful, engaging, and responsive.

What may look like simple play is, in fact, purposeful learning, building confidence, curiosity, communication, and independence every single day.

We are deeply grateful for the trust and support of our families, and for the dedication of our staff who bring this vision to life. Together, we create a space where every child feels valued, capable, and ready to grow.

Our children had a lovely time celebrating Eid in the setting 🌙✨

They enjoyed making beautiful Eid cards using stars and moons, exploring their creativity through cutting, sticking, and colouring with their own imagination. It was a wonderful way to introduce them to the meaning of Eid while encouraging self-expression and learning about different cultures and celebrations.

Moments like these help children build respect, kindness, and a sense of belonging in our diverse community.

Wishing all our families celebrating a very Happy Eid 🌙💛
May your day be filled with joy, peace, and togetherness.

Our children had a lovely time celebrating Red Nose Day in the setting, and it was filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful learning.

As part of the activities, the children explored naming their facial features, looking closely at themselves in the mirror and talking about what makes each of them unique. It was a simple activity, but a powerful one. It gave them the space to recognise their identity, build confidence, and appreciate differences in a positive way.

Celebrating Red Nose Day is not just about fun. It helps children begin to understand kindness, helping others, and being part of a wider community. These early experiences gently introduce the idea of empathy and social responsibility in a way that is appropriate for their age.

This links closely with the EYFS, particularly Personal, Social and Emotional Development, where children develop a sense of self, build relationships, and learn to respect and value others. It also supports Communication and Language as they describe what they see and express their thoughts.

A small day, with big learning hidden in the smiles ❤️

Spring has been a beautiful time of learning at Beavers Lodge Playgroup 🌸

Our children have been out on little walks, exploring nature, noticing changes in the season, and talking about what they can see, hear and feel. These moments help build their curiosity, language and understanding of the world around them.

Back in the setting, they have been busy creating spring-themed art collages, making Mother’s Day cards, and helping to decorate the playgroup using both natural and artificial resources. Through these experiences, children explored creativity, fine motor skills, imagination and self-expression.

It has been lovely to see them so engaged—working together, sharing ideas, and taking pride in what they create.

Here are some of our special spring moments 🌼

Over the first two weeks of March, our children enjoyed a very special visit to the library as part of our World Book Day celebrations 📚

This was a thoughtfully planned experience in collaboration with Beavers Library, with a clear focus on supporting children’s learning. The visits helped children develop a love for books, build early literacy skills, and feel confident exploring stories in a new environment. It was also a lovely way for them to learn how a library works and to see books as something exciting and accessible.

We saw so much curiosity—children choosing books, listening to stories, and engaging with the space in their own unique ways.

To keep this love for reading growing, we encourage parents to continue visiting the local library, read regularly with your child, and let them choose books that interest them. These small, consistent experiences make a big difference in building strong language and learning foundations.

Thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey with us 💛

We are excited to share that we have started our structured Forest School sessions this term 🌿

These sessions run twice a week for children who are part of our extra learning programme, with a clear aim and purpose behind each experience. Through Forest School, we support children in building confidence, independence and resilience, while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and a deep connection with the natural world.

The children explore, take safe risks, work together, and develop their physical skills, all while learning to respect and care for their environment. It’s been wonderful to see their engagement, creativity and growing sense of self in these sessions.

Here are some glimpses from our Forest School days 📸

We are delighted with how this has begun and look forward to continuing these sessions into the next term as well.

Thank you for your continued support 🌱

We had such a lovely time at our Easter Fair yesterday 🐣

It was wonderful to see so many of our children and parents joining in, smiling, playing, and simply enjoying the moment together. A big thank you to the parents who kindly contributed food—it truly added to the warmth of the day.

Events like these mean a lot to us. They help us raise funds to bring in meaningful resources and experiences for the children—things that go beyond what government funding can provide each term.

Our team also put their hearts into creating little key rings for every child, a small keepsake for you to hold onto as a memory from their time at playgroup.

Thank you for being part of our community. Days like these remind us what makes it so special 💛

This week, as part of Valentine’s celebrations, our children have been exploring kindness, creativity and positive relationships through meaningful, hands-on experiences. During Forest School, they collected natural treasures from the garden, shaped and rolled terracotta clay, and carefully decorated their own heart creations. Indoors, they worked together to create a colourful collage, painting their hands in different colours around a heart shape. This beautiful piece symbolises equality, inclusion and the importance of celebrating one another. Through these shared experiences, the children developed fine motor skills, communication, teamwork and an understanding of care, respect and belonging.
