🍂 Autumn evenings were made for this… 🧡

Crisp autumn air, warm bubbles, twinkling lights and nowhere else you need to be. ✨🛁

The perfect excuse to slow down, leave the everyday worries behind and spend a little time doing what matters most… relaxing, laughing until your cheeks hurt, and putting the world to rights with your favourite people. 🥰

Whether it’s a romantic escape, a catch-up with friends or simply some much-needed time for yourself, there’s something extra special about a hot tub under the autumn sky. 🍁🌙

At our two holiday cottages, the bubbles are waiting… all you need to do is arrive, unwind and enjoy. ❤️

Come for the Forest, stay for the cosy vibes… just try to remember to go home! 💀😂

Our autumn garden display is ready, and it seems we have some guests who love staying with us so much they never want to leave! 😂💀 Even the dog has decided to stick around! 🐾🦴

With pumpkins, skeletons and a little Halloween mischief, our garden is getting into the autumn spirit. 🎃🧡

As summer fades and the evenings draw in, it’s time for hot chocolates, crisp walks in the beautiful Forest of Dean, and cosy nights by the fire or snuggled under a fluffy blanket. ☕🍁🔥

A LITTLE BIT OF OUR FAMILY!

These books belonged to my Dad.

He was a watchmaker and jeweller, and loved old things — especially Antiques Roadshow! So amongst the books you’ll find one about antiques and two old clockmaking books, all of which have been in our family for over 40 years.

They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we love that they’re being enjoyed again rather than gathering dust on a shelf.

So, if you fancy a quiet afternoon and a cup of tea, have a little browse. ☕️

✨ If you know me, you will know that I can't sit still for long!✨

I'm always spotting the next little project, something I think could look better or just needs a bit of a change...and that's exactly how I felt about the garden at Mill Cottage.

It didn't need a complete makeover, it just needed a "little something"

So over the last few weeks we have been busy - new fencing, painted black for a bit more style, some new plants from our friends at TheFairviewGardener&TheTeaRoom 🌱 and of course our gorgeous new pergola over the hot tub.

And this might just be our favourite bit.....

The roof retracts, so on a clear night you can open it up and enjoy the stars or on those typical autumnal evenings close the roof and enjoy the sound of the rain while staying warm and cosy in the hot tub bubbles 🛁

So if you have stayed with us before, you will have to come back and see what we have been up too!

And if you have never stayed.....November could be the perfect time to come and try it for yourself. 🍂

🌿✨ A little bit of magic, hidden in the garden…

Our guests recently described the cottage as “even better than the photos” and gave a special mention to the hot tub — but we think our gardens deserve a little love too. 💚

They’re easy to overlook, but take a little wander and you’ll discover there’s more than meets the eye…

🦉 A carved owl watching
🐦 A kingfisher waiting to be spotted
🎨 Sculptures tucked amongst the greenery
🧚‍♀️ Tiny fairy doors hidden beneath the trees
🌿 And lots of little surprises waiting to be discovered

The trick is to look up, look down, and look underneath — because you never know what might be hiding around the next corner. ✨

🌧️ It might have been a wet day in the Forest of Dean, but that hasn’t stopped our guests getting out exploring!

Finlay came back from the Sculpture Trail a little wet and muddy… luckily our dog wash was ready and waiting! 🐾

Our butler sink, gentle dog wash soap and towels mean muddy walks are no problem here.

Because at Parish Mill Holidays, dogs really are welcome! 🐶❤️

🏡 A little look around Mill Cottage...❤️

I thought I'd give you a little glimpse of what you can expect when you arrive.

Every detail of the cottage has been carefully chosen and put together by me.....with,of course, David's very important input! 🤣

He likes to think he has a say in the decor, although im not sure how often his suggestions actually make it through to final decision! 🤪

I've chosen paintings from local artists and lots of little touches to create a cosy, comfortable and homely feel. There are books and games for relaxing evenings and of course a few treats waiting for you when you arrive. ☕️🍰🍞

I really want Mill Cottage to feel like a home from home - somewhere you can walk through the door, put your bags down and instantly relax.

And when you're ready to head out, the beautiful Forest of Dean is waiting to be explored. 🌲🍂

I hope you love Mill Cottage as much as we do....even if I do make most of the decisions! 🤣❤️

🌿 A little local collaboration we’re rather excited about… 🌿

If you’ve stayed with us at Parish Mill Holidays, you’ll know we love supporting other local, family-run businesses — and this one is a particular favourite of ours.

We’ve been visiting TheFairviewGardener&TheTeaRoom & tea rooms for many years. It’s family run, has a brilliant garden centre, a lovely café and, most importantly… great food and great owners! ❤️

It’s somewhere we genuinely wouldn’t go anywhere else, so we’re delighted that we can now offer our guests 10% off breakfast at their tea rooms. 🥐☕️
