Lovely walk down over the parched field from East Looe, with a view of Looe Island - then eastwards along the wooded coastal path - and down the rough path with tiny steps to the beach. It's a bit stony, but that means the water is beautifully clear and I enjoyed a gorgeous swim with the beach all to myself - even in August!
It'll be lovely here in September, when the summer holiday visitors have gone.

Buddleia looking gorgeous this year outside the twin bedroom window. The walkway leads back from the top patio and garden to Sunflowers' front door.

We're now fully booked for the summer holidays apart from the bank holiday week. For those without young children, it's a good time to enjoy a slightly quieter week (schools go back on Wednesday or Thursday) - or come with the kids for a long 3-night weekend (from Saturday 29th August) to round off the holidays.

Wow! Who needs to go to the Mediterranean? The weather has come here. Wall to wall, warm sunshine, balmy evenings for eating outdoors or for a stroll by the sea - or a glass of wine at the cafe overlooking the beach. The sea is perfect for swimming at the moment - calm and beautifully clear. OK, it's a little bit chillier in the water than the Med but almost certainly less polluted and not a jellyfish in sight anywhere (at least not yet!).

I managed to escape from the endless to-do list to go to Portwrinkle - just 20 mins drive east of here. This is where the locals go to avoid 'the madding crowd' of Looe and Seaton in the height of summer - a lovely crescent-shaped beach with greenery right down to the shore. The water is so beautifully clean and clear here - probably because the beach is small shingle/gritty sand - and I couldn't resist a dip. Not as bitingly cold as expected for this time of year - no doubt because the sea had come up over hot shingle - so I even managed to swim a few strokes! Utterly gorgeous!

A trip to MOT my partner's car gave us an opportunity for a walk down over the field down towards Looe - with a stunning view of Looe Island - then back along the wooded coastal path towards Plaidy, just east of Looe. We took the rough path, with its tiny little steps, down to the beach and enjoyed a walk along the sand and shingle in warm sunshine.

Amelanchier blossom catching the early morning sun in front of Sunflowers Barn. So gorgeous here at this time of year - bluebells in the little woodland next door and primroses still going mad all over the place! We still have vacancy for May bank holiday weekend (or week) if you want to come and enjoy.

Fanatastic new playground opened at Widegates, just over a mile from here. I had a brilliant time there with my nephew and family last Saturday, when the weather was amazingly good. There's something there for all ages, from tiny tots to grown-ups: swings, climbing frames, monkey bars, 3 slides (small, medium and slightly scary!) and even a zip wire. Their kids are 7 and 10yrs old. We spent a long time there and it was hard to prize them away. I pass it regularly on my way into Liskeard - and might even re-visit on my own.πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ˜²πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜ƒ . . . . . . .
