GENERAL FIVE DAY OUTLOOK FOR THE SOUTHWEST
Good morning, all,
Meteorological Autumn has arrived and what a summer it has been. Definitely not one to moan about for sure.
We start Autumn as a mixed bag for the first half of this week, but signs are for things to improve as we move into the forthcoming weekend, and for those attending the Sheb Fest, its not looking too bad at all.
Here is your all-important outlook covering Thursday 3rd to Monday 7th September
THURSDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER:
A damp sort of day ahead, as there will be a lot of cloud first thing, giving some drizzle or pulses of light rain.
Now, it is possible that most tend to dry up into the afternoon, but with a lot of cloud around, we could be affected by pulses of drizzle or light rain at any time.
This is all due to a weather system to the north, and cloud being steered around the outter side, being pushed across the southern half of the UK.
There is going to be a keen south-westerly breeze also, gusting up to 19mph on the west and south coast. Less so inland and sheltered areas.
Afternoon temperatures reaching highs of 20 to 24 degrees, warmest spots reserved for parts of inland Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
Evening and overnight, some more of that patchy rain or drizzle possible, being replaced by a more organised band of light rain I to the early hours of Friday.
Overnight winds will drop back to around 6mph inland, up to 15mph on the coast.
Overnight temperatures holding up at lows of 16 degrees, so mild.

FRIDAY 4th SEPTEMBER:
A damp start with light rain from dawn, slowly clearing western parts of the southwest by mid morning, with a scattering of showers following on in behind.
The rain should clear all parta by early afternoon, showers tend to fizzle out, with just a small chance of an isolated shower.
Good sunny spells developing throughout the afternoon across all parts, and temperatures reaching highs of 19 to 23 degrees.
Afternoon winds will be from a westerly direction, gusting up to 16mph on the coast, less so inland and sheltered areas.
Evening and overnight, a ridge of high pressure close by, will help keep things sheltered, with overnight temperatures dropping down to lows of 16 degrees by 06:00 Saturday.

SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER:
A cloudy start for some, especially to the west. Sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud elsewhere from dawn.
Morning temperatures starting around 16 degrees, so mild, and winds from a west-northwest direction, around 7mph on the coast.
Into the afternoon, and im hopeful for an improving picture for all areas.
Good sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud to enjoy, and swinging round to more of a southerly direction, temperatures are going to reach 19 to 22 degrees.
So very pleasant for outdoor activities, and for those at the Sheb Fest.
Evening and overnight, dry late sunshine to enjoy, and with lighter winds, not feeling too bad indeed.

SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER:
At present, with high pressure trying to push north out of northern France, we should have a dry sunny start with largely blue skies.
Temperatures with clear skies first thing will be around 12 to 14 degrees, and winds from a southerly direction of 6mph.
Into the afternoon and we keep the blue skies for the first half, but cloud will bubble up, to give sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud for the second half of the day.
Afternoon temperatures reaching highs of 20 to 23 degrees, and afternoon winds will veer round more to a southwest direction, gusting up to 15mph on the coast, so not too bad.
Evening and overnight, cloud tends to build for the first half.
Into the early hours and we are at risk of seeing some patchy rain or drizzle pushing in from the west.
Overnight temperatures of 13 degrees.

MONDAY 7th SEPTEMBER:
Firstly, pollen will now be removed from our forecasts until next season (Starting in March 2027)
Some patchy light rain or drizzle for some first thing, tending to clear as the morning progresses, based on latest weather data.
Temperatures starting around 13 to 15 degrees, and winds from a southwest direction, at around 4mph to 8mph.
We will be left with alot of cloud into the afternoon but hopeful of seeing some sunny spells also.
There will always be an outside chance of an isolated shower, but the majority will remain dry.
Afternoon temperatures reaching highs of 20 degrees to 25 degrees, warmest where we see the best of the sunshine breaking through the cloud.
Afternoon winds remain from a southwest direction, getting up ton14mph on the coast, less so inland, and sheltered areas.
Evening and overnight a dry early evening for most, but some scattered showers will move in to affect some more places.
As we move into the early hours, cloud will thicken further, bringing some outbreaks of light rain or drizzle.
With all the cloud, temperatures holding up at around 16 to 18 degrees.

So, based on latest weather models, its looking as the week progresses, it slowly improves from Friday afternoon for a few days, before turning unsettled into the new working week.
This could change, all depending on the positioning of the high pressure to the south, and low pressure to the north, and just where they will be sitting as we move towards the end of the week, so keep up to date.
