Well deserved. Our Looe Valley Line DCRP has done it again!

Award winner! Our 2025 campaign to inspire people to visit Looe by train won best Tourism & Leisure campaign at the national Community Rail Awards in Derby last week.

When GWR introduced quicker connections between Plymouth and Looe in May 2025, we (Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership) promoted the trip through the local press, leaflets, station posters and nearly 50 social media posts.

The campaign reached 1.2 million people, attracting 17,000 likes. Videos promoting the scenic journey, coastal walks, local businesses and evenings out on the coast were launched in partnership with GWR, The South West Coast Path, I love Cornwall, Visit Looe, Welcome To Looe & Polperro and even West Looe Bookshop!

This translated into bums on seats, making late June to mid September the line’s busiest summer on record.

The visitor economy benefited in turn. Visit Looe said: “By highlighting local attractions and involving businesses, the campaign raised Looe’s profile and helped strengthen the local economy.”

2026 brings a new challenge to encourage passengers back to the line following its long closure over the winter due to flooding damage. With the line now reopened (and with Sunday trains set to return on 5th April) we're ready to get to work!
