Around midday on 12 August 1999, Cornwall was plunged into darkness by a solar eclipse. The eclipse on 12th August will not be total, but with around 95–96% of the Sun obscured, daylight should noticeably dim. The latest eclipse will take place low in the western sky close to sunset and if you are keen to see it (remember to use specialised solar viewers or eclipse glasses), a west facing beach or high cliff top is ideal. Remember, our coastline is east facing this side of Cornwall so I am considering a trip to Mawgan Porth, Crantock or Perranporth to see the eclipse. I think the west side of the county might be busy that evening!

Time to Party!

Looe's fabulous Looe Weekender is back for the 5th year from the 18th-20th September.

With over 80 gigs across three days, in 16 venues across Looe, it's going to be a wonderful event, once again, for the Town.

The best bit of all - it's COMPLETELY FREE!!

Thanks to the pubs, cafes, hotels & other venues, who pay for all the music, you don't have to pay a penny to come & watch the groups. With music running from lunchtime until late evening on all three days - there's a great party atmosphere on both sides of the river & Hannafore too.

So if you don't live local, make sure you book your accommodation soon & come & enjoy Looe's FREE live music festival this September.

We'd also like to show our appreication to Looe Town Council who have given a grant to the event to help cover the publicity & marketing costs and there's an ongoing Crowdfunder too, with links over at the Looe Weekender
