What do you get when you take a Blue Moon & Cornish Yarg scone, add Guinness Chocolate Cake, pile them high with three tiers of other tasty treats, and add a pint of Cornish Ale?

The answer is one very happy Dad (and some serious favourite child brownie points…) 🍻

Our Lads & Dads Afternoon Tea returns for one day only on Saturday 20th June. Last year proved very popular indeed; if Dad deserves a proper day out this Father’s Day weekend, book a table and treat him to sweet treats at Talland with a sea view.

We may still be a few days off, but it felt like summer settled into Talland this week ☀️

Outside has become the only possible place for your morning coffee again, the gardens are back in technicolour, the five minute walk to the beach for a dip is back on to-do lists, and those skies are giving sunset sundowners after dinner.

Summer always feels like a long time coming, but once it’s here, all is very quickly forgiven.

School’s out for half-term and the heat is on the keep the kids entertained for the week! We’ve got you.

There are five important stages to an afternoon well spent around here:

🗺️ You plan, coffee in hand
🎒 You pack the essentials
🥾 You take to the coast path
🌊 You remember to stop and take it all in
🍽️ You make your way back to us and tuck in

Then you round it all off with a good night’s sleep, in a bed you didn’t have to make this morning.

May’s Date Night at Talland Bay promises a champagne take on the Friday night classic: fish and chips!

Not every night away from the kids, the chores and the telly has to be a haute-cuisine affair. Sometimes all you really want is a night off - just the two of you, for once - with some exceptionally good fish and chips, a glass of fizz, and a sunset view of the sea to wash it all down with while you finally catch up without interruptions.

Plates are back and we have a little something for you to celebrate. Introducing ‘Plates & Pints’.

Plates is a deliciously summery way to do lunch: a whole menu of dishes designed for grazing and sharing. Pick any four for £30 or tuck into one large plate with dessert for £35 🍽️

And we realised, as we pulled a pint from our new draft pumps at the bar, that we knew the perfect way to celebrate the return of Plates. Your first pint is on us.

Order four small plates per person, or one large plate per person, and your first draft beer, cider or Talland No.3.15 G&T is on us. The offer is available throughout May and June; simply mention ‘platesandpints’ when booking and we’ll make it happen.

It’s often said (usually between delighted mouthfuls of something sweet…) that our afternoon tea is more than just a little bit special. Now, we’re excited to reveal that The Muddy Cornwall Awards seem to agree, because Talland Bay is a finalist in the Best Afternoon Tea category! 🥂

Now we just need you to vote for us. It takes about 30 seconds, which is less time than it takes to eat a finger sandwich (and we’ve timed it ⏰)

The best breakfast is the one you haven’t had to cook yourself 🍳

The one that starts with the buffet - fruit for virtue, pastries for joy - then moves onto the main event. A full Cornish with hog’s pud, or Cornish eggs poached and plated with some very good smoked haddock, or eggs many which ways.

We’ll take care of the cooking (and the washing up!) which just leaves you to decide which dish will fuel your coastal adventures today…
