I know, I know. I do go on about the mornings at Waters Edge... And this won't be the last time. Not sorry. It rained overnight. I leave the window open so I can hear the fishing boats at night, and I heard the pitter patter of rain before I fell into the deepest sleep under a squishy duvet cloud. The ground is wet and the day has started grey, but here I am, sat warm, dry and sheltered watching the day unfold as I begin my days work.
Whenever I am lucky enough to stay here, a calm washes over me as though carried by the tide and I cannot, for the life of me, remember how it feels to be stressed. Hardly surprising given this is how a day begins. Slowly, sleepily. It starts with the oyster catchers chit chatting and sea gulls calling. Then other sounds start to creep in. The fish monger delivering their goods to the old sardine factory. Hellos from early dog walkers and the insane dawn-swim brigade with their buoys and dry robes. I love you Looe, my haven, my home. Thank you for always recalibrating my spirit.
