At the March 2026 Quarterly Communication, Pro Grand Master Jonathan Spence set out a clear and compelling direction for the future: Contemporary Freemasonry.
In a world increasingly shaped by digital connection - but real-world disconnection - Freemasonry has a vital role to play. As an antidote to isolation, loneliness, and the growing pressures on mental health, our values of friendship, integrity, and service have never been more relevant.
We can confirm that the Book of Constitutions will be updated to reflect a more contemporary tone of address, expanding beyond "Brother" to include a range of regionally authentic and culturally relevant alternatives. Accepted terms will include:
๐๐ฟ๐๐ (London)
๐๐๐ (South London)
(East London)
๐๐๐ (Yorkshire / North England)
๐๐ฎ๐บ (London / Nationwide)
๐ข๐๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ฑ (Manchester / North West)
๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ / ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ๐ / ๐ ๐ ๐ข๐น๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ (Notts / Derbyshire)
๐๐ฎ (Liverpool)
๐๐ฎ๐ฑ (North / Nationwide)
๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ (Everywhere)
๐ฃ๐ฎ๐น (Scotland / North England)
๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต (Wales)
Because whether you say Brother, Bruv, or Our Kid... the meaning remains the same.
