🌊 Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week is almost here! 🚤

From 15–23 August, Lyme Regis will come alive with family fun, much-loved seaside traditions and spectacular displays while supporting the RNLI’s lifesaving work in the station’s 200th anniversary year.

Here are just some of the highlights:

🚤 Saturday 15 – Welcome display, crew walkabout and the famous Bathtub Race at 7pm�

Sunday
12.30pm and the Moonrakers from 5pm�

🧸 Monday – Teddy Bears’ Picnic and the Fire and Rescue exercise�

🏖️ Tuesday – Lifeguard display, Damsels in Distress and the Town Band�

🔥 Wednesday – Greasy Pole and a spectacular two-Spitfire air display at 6pm�

🦀 Thursday – Crab fishing, another Greasy Pole and the wonderfully eccentric Conger Cuddling�

🏰 Friday – Sandcastle Competition and Lyme Morris Men�

🏊 Saturday 22 – Swimming Challenge, Beach Tug of War and a planned Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, with the time still to be confirmed�

🦆 Sunday 23 – Duck Race and the Fun Run

We at 2 The Cedars are wishing Mary Anning a happy 227th birthday today with this wonderful photo. The statue and museum just a few minutes walk from us.

Born on this day in 1799 into a poor Lyme Regis family, Mary Anning went on to become one of the greatest scientists this country has ever produced. From the shoreline she knew better than anyone, she gave us ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and a window into a prehistoric world that had lain hidden for millions of years.

This stunning image by Hope Lawrence Images captures her statue beneath the Milky Way - the same sky that looked down on Mary as she worked the shore below, all those years ago.

At Lyme Regis Museum we are proud to celebrate her life, her discoveries and her enduring legacy. Here's to you, Mary.
