New Forest Accessible Accommodation

New Forest Accessible Accommodation Our Bench - The New Forest's only truly accessible self catering accommodation - holiday cottages in Lymington, wheelchair accessible & a great location!

Our Bench is a family-run business offering three fully accessible, self-catering holiday cottages in Pennington, Lymington. We are dedicated to providing barrier-free holiday accommodation for people with disabilities, life-limiting conditions, and their families or carers. Each cottage has been carefully designed to offer a warm, inclusive space where guests can relax, feel at home, and enjoy a

much-needed break. With accommodation suitable for between two and five guests, we focus on comfort, dignity, and a true sense of belonging. All of our holiday homes are wheelchair accessible and equipped with specialist features such as profiling beds, ceiling track hoists, accessible bathrooms, and mobility-friendly layouts. We also provide essential equipment including tilt-in-space shower chairs, standard shower chairs, commodes, standing aids, manual wheelchairs, walkers, and overbed tables — helping to reduce the stress of travel and preparation for families with additional needs. We believe in more than just providing accommodation. Our service includes personalised guidance on places to visit, accessible attractions, local dining, and experiences across Lymington, the New Forest and the South Coast, all tailored to suit individual needs and preferences. Our Bench supports a wide range of people. This includes individuals with physical disabilities or complex medical needs, families caring for loved ones with life-limiting conditions, older adults with reduced mobility, and carers in need of respite in a safe and accessible environment. For many of our guests, a stay with us may be one of the few opportunities to enjoy a holiday where their needs are truly understood and met. We aim to make each break not just possible, but enjoyable, memorable and restorative. At the heart of Our Bench is a desire to make a difference, one family at a time. We take great care to welcome each guest personally, to listen to their stories, and to adapt our accommodation where possible to meet specific requirements. Our guests often tell us how meaningful their stay has been, and many return again and again. For those who wish, we offer complimentary photography sessions in the local area, giving families a chance to take home lasting memories from their time in Lymington. Our story began in the 1980s, when we first started welcoming holiday guests to our family cottages. Over the years, we gradually adapted our properties to support guests with limited mobility, and then further evolved to meet the needs of those with more complex care requirements. Today, Our Bench has become known for its warm welcome, specialist knowledge, and truly accessible holiday experiences. We believe everyone deserves the chance to enjoy a break, and we are proud to play a part in making that possible. Join our mailist: https://stats.sender.net/forms/dNky8N/view

This week's guests need more than just an "accessible bathroom".

They have requested two shower chairs, a Tilt-in-Space shower chair and a self-propelled shower chair. These aren't optional extras or luxuries. They are essential pieces of equipment that will enable friends to holiday together.

We can't think of many places that allow this essential equipment to be included in the wet room, still allow room for everyone to use the toilet and more importantly space to transfer with the door closed.

We provide all this equipment free of charge, as we know it is impossible to bring it with you and without it a holiday isn't possible.

And this is why we do what we do. 💙

Six recent reviews. One thing they all have in common… ❤️

We’ve had some lovely feedback from guests staying at Our Bench recently, and reading these six reviews together reminded us of what we’re trying to achieve.

It’s not just about having accessible equipment.

It’s about being able to come on holiday and feel at home.

✨ “Helen and Matt have made it accessible for all.”
Jackie, Garden Bench

✨ “The accessible features were particularly helpful, and the peaceful surroundings made it very relaxing.”
Kathleen, Garden Bench

✨ “A nice enclosed garden… good location… can’t fault the place.”
Steven, Garden Bench

✨ “There are always lots to do in the New Forest… we always find more to do.”
India, Garden Bench

✨ “The New Forest is a beautiful area to visit… We all loved our stay and would definitely return.”
Karen, Garden Bench

And perhaps the bit that makes us happiest?

Guests are returning. ❤️

They’re finding that they can have a holiday that works for their family, with the equipment they need, space to relax, a beautiful area to explore — and hosts who are here to help.

That’s what Our Bench is all about.

Accessible holidays that feel like holidays, not compromises.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave us a review. It genuinely means a lot.

It's been a while since I took my big camera out into the New Forest to capture the wildlife - and the recent photos reminded me that I really should.

The roads are now fully open, the fire was devastating but only 1.6km2 of the 566km2 New Forest National Park was destroyed, meaning the vast majority of the Forest was untouched by the fire, and wildlife is already returning to the area. The actual area of forest is in one of the least accessible areas of the forest, which means it took longer to fight as it was harder to get too... but it means that none of the areas we recommend to visit were effected.

The forest currently looks stunning, the bracken is turning golden, the heather is purple on the heaths and the little rain we have has as started to encourage new growth on the forest lawns.

Do let me know if you think I should make the time to take more photos of the area with my proper camera and what you would like to see more of?
